I'm just glad I don't remember the days when it was legal to smoke on a plane while it was in flight. I'm old enough to remember those days, but I don't remember people smoking on planes because I almost never flew anywhere as a kid until I was in high school. The only flight longer than DC-to-New York (or vice versa) that I made when I was a kid was at Christmas when I was not yet one year old, and we hardly ever flew to New York either because we almost always drove.

I flew Balkan Airlines from Johannesburg to Sofia and then Sofia to Kennedy back in the 90s...there were a couple of nonsmoking rows, but everyone in them smoked.  Not just any cigarettes either, these were the nasty Russian smokes that smelled like a diesel truck going up a steep hill.  After 20+ hours of that, I felt pretty green around the gills (and I smoked at the time).

I'm old enough to remember but they had moved all the smokers to the back of the plane by that time which was so funny, like the smoke was going to stay in aisles 36-50 or whatever hahaha
probably the worst "smoke" concert I went to was Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, their fans liked "smoke" more than fans at any other concert I went to, actually from Tom's performance the 2d time I saw him he did too

Nope way earlier, Split Enz opened in I think 1982 and they were my whole reason for going, I loved me some Split Enz haha but Tom Petty was so awesome I went back the next year to see just him (can't remember who opened) and he was so high, he kept walking into his microphone and looking at it like "whoa" hahaha

I saw Tom Petty at Merriweather around that time and he was so good we went back 2 more consecutive years.  Gave a great show.  Damn the Torpedoes!

No, but you don't need one - just get the pulled pork nachos.  They are really tasty.

LOL, I heard a radio ad for a local restuarant (Clyde's?) that was featuring "Chesapeake Blue Catfish", which is an invasive that they're trying to develop a commercial market for to help manage the expanding population.  But I was laughing at the "Chesapeake" moniker - nearly all these fish are caught in the Potomac, James or York Rivers, not exactly pristine ecosystems and very rarely in the Bay proper.

The Chesapeake is probably dirtier than the Potomac. :(

And yet we eat the delicious trash eaters like crabs, clams, and oysters.

Bivalve's are cleaners not eaters.

But what they "eat", is itself feeding on bacteria or microorganisms that may not be our favorite food chain foundation.

Still, I scarf down oysters from just about anywhere as long as they're fresh.  Seattle has some great ones but they're often tiny - half Chincoteague size sometimes.

they suck in everything and run it through a filter. One adult oyster can clean 50 gallons of water in 24 hours. They're marvelous critters and the destruction of their natural habitat has had direr effects on the bay.

Then again I can eat them by the dozens. Best beer food ever.

Does anyone know if the Nationals still offer the $5 day of game tickets at the box office? Do they charge service fees on these tickets?  Do they go faster on weekends as opposed to weeknights?

Trying to figure out if I'd be OK showing up at the box office at 5:30pm on Thursday to purchase them for the series opener.

Grandstand Seating
Seating in sections 401 and 402 offers a great value at $5 per ticket ($15 for Marquee Games). Grandstand seats go on sale at Nationals Park each gameday 2 1/2 hours prior to first pitch. Grandstand seats are limited to one (1) ticket per customer and the customer must be present at time of purchase. Upon purchasing Grandstand seating, fans must immediately enter Nationals Park.

Yes, and I don't think they have service charges at the box office.
