You mean 3rd base side is better in day games

Depends on the time of day. Certainly for the July 4 game with the 11:05 start the first base side is better.

Last year it was above 100, the inside was the best.

Yeah, that's probably true, but for any sunday afternoon start I'll sit on the 3B side.

Does anyone know what incentives/promotions the Nats have for in-stadium All-Star Game voting this year? Last year they gave away bobbleheads, fan packs, autographed items, etc. I am planning on going to a couple of games next week and I'm trying to figure out what the prizes are ahead of time so I know how many ballots I need complete this weekend. Thanks for your help!

Can someone please teach Nats Park Management and SAIC the difference between the Army Song and the Marine Corps Hymn....next time I'll keep my seat until I'm sure you're playing the correct music.

That was rather dire.

I didn't catch this (wasn't at the game and was doing Memorial Day things) but what happened?

Between innings, ballpark announcer says they'll be 'honoring' all members of the armed forces by playing each of the service songs, first song announced was the Army Song (appropriate, since the Army is the senior service)....well, you don't sit during your service song, so I stood to attention and listened to them "honoring' all the old soldiers present by playing the Marine Corps him....they somehow managed to get all the other service songs correct, too include playing the Marine Hymn a second time...thanks Nat's I'm "honored"

Isn't it customs and courtesies to stand at attention during other service songs as well? Or do you go to parade rest? I can't remember. I'm not trying to be a smartass, I genuinely want to know. And while normally this is where I would engage in interservice banter about the Marines being twice as good, that's why they played it twice, I have to admit, I'd be pretty miffed as well if they claimed to be playing the Marine Corps Hymn and I had to sit through "And the Army goes rolling along" again.

If I was in uniform and in formation, I would have consulted with the Sergeants Major but I'm an old retiree in civilian clothes, I have no obligation to stand during my own! (but I always do) - I don't stand during another service's song because I don't want anyone confusing me with a jarhead, zoomie, squid or coastie - civilians are so easy to confuse as it is ;-)

I attended a local ceremony and the the local Boy Scout brass band and a church choir got 'em right.   I would have been disappointed and a bit miffed if I stood for the Army Song and they played the Marine Hymn.    That's no shot at the Marines but sheer disappointment that the Natinals couldn't get it right.   Bet they all have Support the Troops magnets on their cars.

I feel Galah is justified in feeling slighted that he service's hymn was omitted. Doesn't mean I'm not gonna poke fun at him about it LOL.

I hear ya ...  :)    I was speaking as an old Army guy.   Hell I only spent 2 years in the Army and it would have sucked.

No set time.  Last night they waited until about 7 (start time).  They've cancelled games before based on forecasts 3 or 4 hours in advance and had no rain or at least a few hour window when they could have played. They've played games when anyone sane would have cancelled.

The only rule of thumb I think is they are more wary about thunderstorm forecasts than rain.

Usually they wait till the latest possible moment to do it (last night's postponement came at 19.45, 40min after scheduled start time - weather.com predictions had the rain continuing for a long time afterward)...but one classic blown call came a couple of seasons ago when a midweek daytime match against the Pirates was called because of expected rain, even though none finally materialised.

If I'm not mistaken, I've seen games postponed as early as mid afternoon before. I'd say there's about a 0% chance of getting this game in tonight.

FM-106.7, the Nats' radio outlet, does a pretty good job of staying on top of these...online, the Nats homepage is probably the best place. (We STH get instant E-mail notification - if [I should say 'when'] tonight's match is called hopefully one of us will post this here ASAP.)

The real problem is timing - once in a while they'll call it well in advance (as they should today - as noted earlier the chance of rain is 80%+ from 14.00 through midnight) but most of the time they seem to wait till absolutely the last possible minute.

If I were to go, where do you recommend to park? 20 dollar range ideally

How far are you willing to walk? No where close to the park offers that. However if you go to The Yard and park there for $30 you're literally right next to the stadium and don't have to overpay since that lot isn't owned by the Nats.

There is a whole thread about parking options in 2013. There are some lots that are relatively close for $15-20 bucks.
