The family and I will be driving in Sunday. Where would you suggest we park? Keep in mind we'll have a four year old with us.

This website allows you to save a buck by pre-paying for the lot across the street from home plate.

Im going to check out that parkingpanda site. Thank you! Ive always taken the metro because parking prices are ridiculous.
I once bought tickets on stubhub that included parking. After I bought the tickets I found out it was lot W which is a lonnnnng walk and i was carrying a 4 year old. I ended up paying a rickshaw guy $10 and I felt soooo unsafe with the dude. lol

because we don't want to spend however long is required on the metro with a four year old. I mentioned shady grove mind you and as a state employee, I can ride free. We are going to drive in. No need to be a douche man.

also, where is the best store to find things in sale if any place? I want to get a new hat and get my son a shirt. I hope he gets a foul ball or something. I want him to want to come back all the time.

Im in the same boat as you. I take the metro from Rockville with my 4 year old. The metro isnt so bad on the way to the park (except for the transfer), but the way home is terrible with a kid. It's late, kid is tired, you have to hold the kid in crowded lines, wait for the trains, hope you get a seat, blah blah... if parking wasnt so expensive, it would be a no brainer for me. Ive been to lots of ballparks over the years, and Nats stadium easily has the most expensive parking. I dont get it.

Check the prices parking for a Ravens game...or availability at Verizon center for a Caps game...

I'm assuming you are driving in down GW Parkway to 395/695 SE/SW Freeway (I think that's what it's called).

If so, I'd take the South Capital Street Exit, go straight past the park (it'll be on your right), move to the right lane, and turn right onto Potomac Ave SW, then a left on Half Street SW. You'll then be able to pick from lots on your left and right that are in the $10-$20 dollar range depending on what they are charging that day. You'll be entering the Park at the Home Plate entrance.

One word about Metro... kids love trains.  Emerging from the Half Street exit and looking into the Park from the CF gate is pretty cool. If the kid is on your shoulders, he would probably be psyched. Also, it would give you an extra 45 minutes to shake off that extra beer you had. :)

Also, you don't have to do SG. You could drive around the Beltway to the Greenbelt Station, which is *on* the Green line. No transfer, shorter train ride, etc. My boy, who is UMD now, rides the Green Line to the Park pretty frequently and thinks it's great.

The only downside to the Green line is that some of the ballpark trains only go as far as Mt Vernon Square (i.e. the convention centre, one stop after Gallery Place) instead of all the way to Greenbelt.  Not really a big deal when the trains are running often, but annoying on Sundays & holidays.  Though one can just get off and go to RFD or Matchbox for a beer I suppose.

Green line trains are on a reduced schedule this weekend... every 16 minutes. So maybe that's out.

Back in the bad old days (2008/09) when by September the Nats would be long gone from post-season consideration and attendances would be in the 15-20k range, Saturday nights at the ballpark weren't that bad...but now with the twin whammies of (1) track-work EVERY BLASTED WEEKEND and (2) attendances in the 30k+ range, Saturday nights have become my least favourite time at the ballpark (next to Sunday nights, which fortunately are rare), with endless waits and crowds, platforms jammed with drunken college kids and interns. I've sold my tickets for tonight and next Saturday, and next season once the first-pitch times are announced I'm selling every last one of my Saturday nighters (will still attend on Saturday afternoons though since at least one can get home at a decent hour). As with my former Redskins eason ticket, the logistics of Nats Saturday nights have become too much drudgery to continue justifying.

yeah but thats football...i understand inflated prices for a sport that isnt played daily. If you compare Nats parking prices and O's parking prices-- O's are much more affordable for on site parking..as little as $8 if I remember right.

I think my wife used the parking panda site too. Thanks for all of the suggestions. I won't be drinking beer, carbonation doesn't sit well post surgery.

How bad is the sun in 236? I'm going tomorrow afternoon with my elderly stepdad and that's a concern.  Any info is appreciated.  Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that section is full sun, but if he has a hat and maybe sunglasses, he should be fine (high in the 70s, low humidity, couldn't ask for nicer weather)

Definitely full sun. You should be able to move either down a level or into the upper rows of the 220s where it will be shaded.

Picked up my yearbook yesterday, they never checked for a season ticket holder pass, just walk into the "lounge" and grab one.

Trust me...it was gonna be a stretch...

I checked out parking for the Packers game...before I bit the bullet and decided to take the missus back to Green Bay to see the Pack play my Bears again.

Article about a possible hotel being built on the lot at the corner of M St and South Cap, across from the giant church. across from Metro where the Bullpen is currently located.

Did they change the address?  the article refers to 50 M st SE...which would be the bullpen - corner of M and Half St....if it was across from the church the house number wold be smaller

I thought it was the Fairgrounds site, but JDLand corrected me on Twitter.
