79-80!!

Also, H-Rod was only throwing 99 and got nothing but groundballs. Guess he is "pitching to contact"

i'll be bitter if we finish with a losing record because we played 161 games.. i know the dodgers have been better in the 2nd half but at Nats park we could have taken care of them.

i know it isn't the end of the world but i really want this wiinning record

dodgers winning, if they lose their last 3 and we win our last 2 we would catch them for 7th in the NL

Well, today was a great day.

Clinched 3rd place.
Clinched a 10-game improvement for the 2nd year in a row.
Morse got #30.
Severino got #1.
Kept .500 finish alive.
We've won 13 of 16!

It should only count for starting pitchers, or pitchers that throw more than three innings.

Or we can say that it's another in several really cool moments for this team over the past couple of weeks.  That's a moment the kid will never forget.

Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 79th win, each season:

2005 - 26th September (157th match of season)
2011 - 26th September (159th match of season)
[2007 - finished 73-89]
[2006 - finished 71-91]
[2010 - finished 69-93]
[2008 - finished 59-102]
[2009 - finished 59-103]

---

That had to have been the deadest ballpark 'ambience' I've ever heard on a radio broadcast, even by the exalted standards of the NL's attendance laggards...how they could have the effrontery to announce an attendance of 21,058 is beyond me (ironically the '05 Overachievers' 79th win was also at Florida, in front of an announced crowd of 11,467)...their STH/corporate ticket base isn't that big is it? Did they hand out free tickets to Dolphins/Hurricanes matchgoers?
