I'm praying for so much rain that Stras pitches an indoor bullpen and waits till Sunday to debut at this point.

Don't the Dodgers have a game with the Giants on Friday?

They could do a back-to-back DH instead of a day-night.  Start the first game at 12:00 and give them an hour between games.

Make a decision already, schmucks.

and of course by schmucks, you mean everyone else except for lerners 8)  (i kid, i kid)

They should probably postpone this game. The problem is that they are expecting rain for the next couple of days and moving Strasburg's start will piss people off. The only thing I object to is having him make his come back in bad weather that threatens the possibility of game delays.

yeah weather is out of their hands, so they are put in a sticky situation.  we'll see.  i have no problem when they start him, just as long as he's healthy and we don't risk injury.

The difference between this and the pirates game is about 20000 tickets sold. Rescheduling this many people this late in the season is a logistical nightmare.

Wouldn't it be a 160 game season in that case?

I was thinking double-header Thursday to make up one of the missed games.

...sort of like last season when the rumour circulated that Strasburg would make his debut in the opener of a series against the Reds instead of that Pirates match the following Tuesday - 33,774 tickets sold that day (best ever at Nats Park for a Reds visit).

Strasburg rumours generate more ticket sales than already-scheduled realities.

If they play tonight it's going to be pure misery.

They'd have to start super early since LA has a series with the Giants on Friday.

The Nats are freaking classless. They have canceled games without hesitation all year with hardly any rain. Today has been a washout and it's supposed to rain much of the evening yet they are not calling the game. Bastards

It's pissing down the rain outside my office window, about a mile from the stadium.  I have tickets for tonight but I'm not risking pneumonia to see a guy that can't throw hard or fast anymore.  Walk on water or not, he's not worth it.

I made a point not to read much of what you post let alone respond but...

Certainty even you can see the difference between this game and the Pirate game earlier in the year.  They have sold 30K plus tickets to this game...rescheduling it this late in the season would be a nightmare.  They are going to do everything they can to get this game in.  The Pirate rain-out was very early in the year and the Pirates were coming back later...no hard at all to reschedule.

rain from Lee stretches all the way down to SC and is moving very very slowly, it doesn't look like there will be another home game until Thursday.

It hasn't rained in Rockville now for about an hour.

Especially considering LA has to be back in California for a series on Friday against the Giants.  That said, I feel sorry for anyone heading down to Nats Park tonight.  Just miserable outside.  Total misery.

I was but this is quite a bit different, at least what I'm seeing outside of my window is.

We at least have covered seats for this one (Section 203), so we're heading down there unless the announcement comes prior to then.
