Yes and LaRoche will be gone unless we, foolishly, extend him.  So, LaRoche, Marquis, and Pudge all gone in 2-3 years is over $20m off the books.
Marquis and Pudge are gone after this year.I have a feeling that Pudge will be extended for one year at a  a 1 1/ 2 mil. LaRoche gone after next year.

Will the Nats actually let Marquis pitch tonight? I can't see it.

With philly getting pence we are starting to learn what it is like to be baltimore/toronto. Hopefully at some point we'll become tampa.

If they want much of my money, they'll try to become Boston instead of Tampa.

I did a look at Jason Marquis. What are you guys hearing at what the Nats might be looking to get back for him.

Thanks for stopping by. I honestly have no idea what Marquis' value would be.

Interesting question. If they are trying to trade him they run the risk of a bad outing? Scouts won't be swayed by one outing but it could be telling. Remember that Marquis has a rep for not doing well in the second half.He has been spotty his last few starts. If he doesn't start we know he is being traded and the paperwork is in the MLB office.

Honestly, they'll take the best offer they receive.  There has been some noise on this end that they'll hang onto him if they don't get 'what they think he's worth' but I don't see that happening.  He's not a type B free agent so the choices are trade him now or lose him for nothing.  If they want to resign him after the season, they can do that even if he's traded now.

MLBTraderumors had Andy Oliver listed as a possible return.  What are your thoughts on that?

23rd for outfielders, not 23rd overall.

That's what I meant and didn't type...

Atlanta might = Tampa (development strategy, not budget) in which case we'll have to become the Red Sox.

I'd like that a lot.  But I think Atlanta's budget  >  Tampa's budget and by a lot.

Now that Philly has no prospects left, I really really hope that the aging thing will hit them hard in a couple years, but it is certainly possible that Amaro just keeps trading for and signing everybody he needs and they are the NL Yankees.

I could live with that as long as we're the Red Sox of the NL East.

I'd say Detwiler is a more realistic option.

Looks like Fister is about to be a Tiger, so they're out of the Marquis sweepstakes.

Done deal - Fister for Furbush (LOL).

LOL indeed - but I think JCA was really pushing hard to get us some Furbush. He's going to be disappointed to see that we've been Fist-blocked.

This may force Cleveland to trade for Marquis. They'd been interested - now it's an arms race and they might pull the trigger in a panic.

Minor league roster filler is my guess

plus Milwaukee's farm system is pretty barren

In all seriousness, bummer to see Hairston go.
