Komatsu looks legit to me. Similar minor leave numbers to Span's ML numbers

Much younger than Whiting. More pop. Great OBP skills

Why Bixler back up? Bernadina has to be down in AAA for 10 days?

Did you think Bernadina would get special treatment in regards to the 10 day rule?

Wouldn't mind seeing Werth play a little CF until another CFer arrives. Maybe it would wake him up.

Looks like Fister is about to be a Tiger, so they're out of the Marquis sweepstakes.
They did not learn from Jarred Washburn?

Komatsu is a great return for Hairston. I would be happy to get ap rospect like him for Marquis, let alone a utility guy.

Much better than Boomer. Better hitter, more patience, considerably younger.

Apparently he rakes against righties, but doesn't hit lefties well. As mentioned could be a valuable 4th OF/platoon guy in a year or two.

Zuckerman reports we are getting AA OF Eric Komatsu for Hairston

10) Eric Komatsu, OF, Grade C+:   .290/.389/.413 with 52 walks, 44 strikeouts in 317 at-bats for Huntsville, 13 steals in 19 attempts. Good on-base skills, mediocre power.
That's a nice line in AA.

Boolean Lollipop reports the Tigers are still talking about Jason Marquis.

Looking forward to seeing if we can score Ramos 2.0 from them or the Indians.

@washingnuts

It was reiterrated to me that the #Nats do not want to trade Drew Storen to the Twins for CF Denard Span. ...

Every other team would have hung up on the Nats for offering a closer for a CF. Better make the deal cause no one else is going to fall for it.

Kilgore says "

The #Nats were apparently extremely close to a deal Thursday with Detroit for Jason Marquis. With Tigers getting Fister, that door closed."
BUT WAIT
LADSON says

"I was informed that the #Nats and #Tigers are still talking about RHP Jason Marquis going to Detroit."

I'm expecting marquis to be scratched from tonights start.

Be still, MarquisDeSade's beating heart!!!!!

@AdamKilgoreWP

Sources: Yunesky Maya is traveling to Washington, and he'll be on call in case the #Nats trade Jason Marquis.

Embarrassing.  I would rather have a bullpen-by-committee game.

It would be kind of funny to make Coffey pitch 6 innings just to see how tired he would get.

Last of Boolean Lollipop's three new tweets (see replies #1011 #1012):

It is possible that RHP Tyler Clippard and CF Roger Bernadina could be part of a deal to get a center fielder.

I don't want to trade Clippard because I think he could help us get to the playoffs next season.  Seriously.  But if I have to choose between him and Storen, I choose Clippard.  But I really think it's stupid to trade either of these guys; the available center fielders are not simply not good enough to justify it.
