lol @ people falling into the FA trap again

"Skip this year, just wait another year." I've already explained how that's total fallacy. Many of those players will get locked up to long-term deals, or get traded to a team where they'll want to re-sign. It's happened so many times before.

Amazing. It's like people have amnesia or have never followed baseball.

If they resign Pujols it might mean they won't have the money to resign Wainwright and he is better than Carpenter.

I hope not on Rollins. He'd be a more steady option than Desmond, but in two years, I doubt he's any more valuable than Desmond would be. He hasn't been much more durable than Reyes the past few years, so it's not like he's a guy we can pencil in for 150 games. If you pass on Reyes for durability, you pass on Rollins. I know there will be a difference in salary, but Id pay the difference for Reyes.

I might do Rollins for a year if he came here as long as we could flip Desmond plus something (Marrero?) for a CF. Then tentatively plan for Espinosa back at SS in 2013 with one of our many 2B prospects - maybe Rendon.

So dreamt that this was the lineup going into next year. I think we could do a lot worse -

Rollins - 6
Werth - 9
Zim - 5
Morse - 7
LaRoche - 3
Upton - 8
Espinosa - 4
Ramos - 2

I think that's a fairly realistic lineup. We'd probably have to give Rollins 2 or 3 years to come here and I'm not sure that I'd do that. Judging by what they gave to Werth, I'm not sure that Mike Rizzo would have a problem going that long, though.

I don't think anyone knows what they plan to do at first base. I don't think Rollins is likely, and I don't think a trade for a CF is unlikely.

Marrero will be at 1B in AAA Syracuse everyone is excited about his pretty BA but fail to notice his .719 OPS. He still needs another year in the minors. Laroche at 1B and Morse in LF for 2012.

OPS in the minors is over .800 the past two seasons. Not sure he can learn a whole lot more in the minors.

On top of that, we have more than enough pop in this lineup with Zimmerman, Morse, Werth and Espinosa. Marrero looks like he could hit for average and have a nice OBP
