Um, as in not a Silver Slugger or Golden Glove winner? As in not an All-Star? As in not being considered one of the best 3rd basemen in the GAME?
There's a member here that judges our FA signings based on whether they are "winners."  He didn't like Dunn because he wasn't a winner, or was never on a WS winning team.

It's an in joke on him calling RZ worthless because he's never been on a winning team.

There's only one player on the Nationals in their history that everyone on this board agrees about. Zim: great or greater is the debate.

You're alright.  We've all fallen prey to them once or twice.  Might want to peruse this thread to get a bit of an idea where some of this kookyness comes from

Guess who made #1 on ESPN's list of top five most irreplaceable players:

Quote
1. Ryan Zimmerman, 3B, Washington Nationals: There's been no more unfortunate injury in baseball this season than Zimmerman's abdominal strain. The best third baseman in the game put up an OPS+ of 142 to go with superb defense in 2010. He was off to a fast start in 2011, and the hope is he'll return in a couple of weeks.

What exacerbates Zimmerman's absence is backup Alex Cora. There's no decent way to say this: Cora doesn't belong on a major league roster anymore. He is a bright, engaging guy, whose OPS+ last year was 49, and he's now 35 years old. His defense, once a strength, has deteriorated badly, and playing at third base, Cora is actually out of position.

If we can somehow stay around .500 without him in what has been a tough stretch, we could be in for an interesting summer.

I think we can finish the stretch at 11-9. .500 is certainly realistic - take only one from the Giants but pwn the Mets.

I missed most of todays game, unfortunately.  Seems Morse might be back on track, looking at the boxscore.

That sweep of Milwaukee was huge.  If we win this series with the Pirates and then take 2 from the Mets, we'll be in good shape for Zim's return.

Maybe getting him back will help Werth get his mojo back.  And I hope Desmond comes back a proud papa and ready to refocus himself and concentrate fully on baseball.

I hope Rick Ankiel teaches Desmond how to take a pitch.

Wasn't Coach from Cheers best skill getting hit by pitch?  Maybe force Desmond to watch reruns.

Is there even a timetable for Zim to return? I haven't heard a thing on his health in quite a while.

Who comes back first - Zimmerman or Chien-Ming Wang?

Ryan Zimmerman, on DL with ab strain, will resume some baseball activities tomorrow. Will need to go on minor-league rehab before activated.

Like, maybe a week longer?  Hopefully back before they head back out on the road after the SF series.

As long as we're guessing, I guess workouts for a week or so and then at least a week in rehab. I can't see him coming back for another two weeks or so but I hope I'm wrong.
