P-Nats eliminated, 3-2 losers tonight.  Demny gives up 3 runs in 2/3 of an inning before getting taken out.

Jim Callis says it's a "slam dunk," according to his sources, that the signing deadline will be moved forward from August 15, starting in 2012. Good stuff.

John (Washington): Robbie Ray isn't on the list, where do you rate him?

Bill Ballew: Ray was another guy who was very close to making the list. He displayed outstanding command, much better than Edwar Cabrera, who was rated as having the SAL's best in BA's mid-season tools survey. He hit the wall during the season as many guys do in their first full pro seasons but he displayed the ability to pitch on both sides of the plate and has excellent movement on his fastball. Ray projects very well and I wouldn't be surprised if he had a better career than many guys who made the list.

This is from the BA chat yesterday (Sally League top 20)

I guess that means Norris has a shot at staying as a top 100 prospect even after his low batting average.

BA also stated that Harper and Rendon are the top set of propsects in the Minors in their Ask BA article this week.

Nice to have two bats on the horizon.

I would think in terms of top 100 guys, Harper, Rendon, and Peacock are locks. Cole and Norris have a chance. Purke could if he pitches well in the AFL.

Speaking of Tyler Moore, Phil Wood referred to him today as  a power left handed first basemen.

Are you mocking me or the players? Moore hit .270 this year so your trolling fails.

Derek Norris did actually have the worst BA in the EL. I like the guy, but he is not a legit prospect in my eyes batting .210 and K% of 28%. If you can't hit for average in the minors, it will only get worse in the big leagues. His patient approach will get picked apart by big league pitchers.

So your point was to make fun of the Nats prospects rather than provide anything constructive. Got it.

Needs to improve big time.

I was wondering the same.  I saw a cleanup vid months ago and it looked like it was getting in better shape.

I'd like to Norris start hitting in AA and AAA like he hits in the AFL.  His K problems seem to disappear against better pitching.
