His makeup/work ethic can't be all that much changed. He's still fat and out of shape.

Antonelli 2-2 so far with , a 2 run Homer. Lombardozzi hit the ball hard all three times, but only has a hit.

Lombo went 2-4 in the 2nd game with a SB (13) and a 2B.  Anto with a 2B as well. (1-2, 1BB)

the H-Senators got 2-hit tonight, Pudge was 0-2.  Knuckler Charlie Haeger dominated.  I'm guessing minor leaguers don't see very many knuckleballs.

It's so strange that Hagerstown who was in 1st or 2nd for most of the early season doesn't make the playoffs but Potomac who was terrible early in the season DOES make them.

Twitter sez Meyer, Goodwin, Rendon and Purke are chowing down at a diner together. Comparing bonuses? ;)

Are they all down in Florida?

Itd be great to see them all get an IP or couple AB's before the end of the season, but Im not holding my breath.

From Adam Kilgore on August 27

Quote
>>> The Nationals’ top five draft picks – Anthony Rendon, Alex Meyer, Brian Goodwin, Matt Purke and Kylin Turnbull – reported to rookie ball at Class A Auburn this week, but they are there only to practice, not to play. The Nationals are treating the experience for them as a week-long “mini-camp” to prepare for the instructional league, Harris said. The Nationals do not want the draft picks to risk injury after their long layoff waiting for their contracts to be finalized.

Makes sense, but I dont think an inning or 3/4 AB's is a big deal. Solis, Cole, and Ray did it last year when they signed at the deadline. I know they didn't have any injury concerns like Purke does, but for guys like Turnbull and Meyer, I don't think a single appearance is a big deal. Nor is it a big deal experience wise to play in a game, it's just always nice to see him hit the field before the end of the year.

With his latest victim tonight, Sandy Leon has now caught 59 out 111 (53%) potential base stealers this season.  He is easily the best defensive catcher in the system and with a little more action from his bat he could be a legit prospect.

Anyone know the reason why the Chiefs have a T-shirt in their shop with Chiefs Spelled out in Sign Languge?  I like the concept.  But as far as I know they are the only ones merchandising this way.  I've written an email to their merchandizing department but was wondering if anyone here knew.

Just curious!

Add Auburn to the Nats affiliate playoff list.  Coincidentally, they play Vermont, our former short-season affiliate, in the first round.
