Harper pitched today!

Bryan, that is. One clean inning in the GCL.

Any love for Dan Rosenbaum? 7 IP 4 H 1 ER 1 BB 8 K tonight in AA.

1.37 ERA in 26.1 IP in AA since promotion. 2.59 ERA in 132 IP with A+. Would like to see him pitch in AFL.

Sammy Solis looks like he has rebounded from elbow inflammation just fine. Mult. arm angles, great fb location/velo, has retired 9 in a row.

1 ER, 6 Ks through 4 IP so far

Danny Rosenbaum is Tom Milone Version 2

He's got potential but the fact his FB typically sits below 90 is going to be a challenge

If his C/U is as good as advertised and he pitches without fear inside (a la John Lannan) he could be an interesting back end guy

Rosenbaum throws 5 ticks higher. He's got a chance to be a #4-5

I hope he's got his head on straight now, that would be nice.

Big game(s) for the AAA Syracuse Chiefs today. We start a 3-game series against in-state rival Rochester with a doubleheader. Tomorrow we close out the series with Strasburg on the mound. Up for grabs is the Thruway Cup, which determines New York State's top minor league team http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thruway_Cup.

Syracuse needs just one win over Rochester in the series to clinch this year's cup, retiring the statue in the process. That would be 2 seasons in a row for the Chiefs. Buffalo also competes for the Cup, but has already been eliminated. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/scoreboard/page.jsp?ymd=20110409&content_id=17555874&vkey=scoreboard_t422&fext=.jsp&sid=t422

It would be fun to see Strasburg pitch tomorrow with the Cup on the line, but I'd much rather the Chiefs took care of business and clinched it in one of today's games (hopefully the first).

Fortunately, Irene is mostly bypassing us. We're going to get hit a bit by the edge of the hurricane, and are reportedly in the "some" risk of damage category, but not until Sunday. Friday & Saturday should be great days for baseball.

Martis should win the Nationals' Minor League Pitcher of the Year, this season.  He's been outstanding.

Chiefs drop both ends of a doubleheader. If we are to win the Thruway Cup this weekend, it's up to Strasburg.

I wonder what we'll do with him.
Dump him in the offseason and watch him become a #5 SP elsewhere

He has dominated AA.
