Harper not playing again tonight. Is he hurt?
Good question, kind of concerning

I really want to punch Ollie. He has massive diamond studs in both ears.

Martis is much fatter in person than I was expecting.
How'd Roark look? Minor league fodder?

Tom Milone's the real freaking deal. Why isn't there more buzz about him?

He looks like a minor league lifer. Throws about 90-92... But hitters aren't fooled.

Because he only throws mid-high 80s

Greg Maddux didn't throw hard either.

Though, I suppose Roark could potentially make it as a RP in the future. He just hit 93 in the 5th.... Maybe in the pen that turns to 95.

Hassan Pena is back in Harrisburg, I see.  I guess the Great Depression ERA in Syracuse was enough for them know he needed to go back down a level.

Tom Milone completes 8 masterful innings, 8IP, 3H, 0R, 0ER, 0BB, 6SO.

I think they wanted to test his endurance, that's why they kept him in a blowout game (Chiefs leading 11-0).  He doesn't look like he's in the greatest shape, ie he looks like a typical 24 year old.  He could probably stand to lose a few lbs.

Lombardozzi gets his third hit of the night (19th for the team!!!).  He's 3 for 6 tonight with a .441 BA since called up.

Maddux threw in the 90s when he made the majors for the Cubs

Good question, kind of concerning

One of their top player development guys (forget who, exactly) said they're just giving him a rest. /shrug

Kind of weird, but not a big deal.  I wish they'd just promote him al-freaking-ready.

Notes from the Senators game last night...

Tanner Roark - Was at 89-93 all night on the fastball. Slider was right around 85 and his curve was at 73-75. I don't think he'll make it as a starter... but if he moves to the pen, maybe that 93 becomes 95 more often?

Cory VanAllen - Was really impressed by him last night. Came in for one batter with the bases loaded and got the K in a left on left matchup. Was at 91-92 and attacked the zone.

Hassan Pena - Pena gave up the hardest hit HR I've ever seen in person. Chris Dominguez, a mountain of a man (Giants 3B Prospect - 6'4 230) hit a Grand Slam that was still rising as it the light post 30 feet above the wall. Easily 475-500 foot bomb.

Derek Norris - For a catcher, the man has wheels. Beat out an infield single to SS. Great hustle. Continues to be hurt by bad umpire strike zones. In the AB he K'd, the second strike call was well outside, putting him in a hole that he couldn't recover from. Defense looked improved from the last time I saw him in Richmond, as well.

Tyler Moore - Everything he seems to hit sounds hard off the bat. Great power... but that's about it. Doesn't really show much patience at the plate, and is prone to swing at pitches he'd probably be better off taking, even if they're strikes (pitcher's strikes).

Thanks for the writeup.  Does Moore look like he could handle a corner OF spot?

Anyone have any thoughts on Lombardozzi vs. Antonelli?  Strengths, weaknesses, other points?  Who has more range?  Stronger arm?  Antonelli looks a bit stronger on offense but both look like hitters with good OBP skills.

Moore was ok around the bag... but he didn't look to have a ton of speed. Not sure he could handle the OF, to be honest.

As for Antonelli/Lombardozzi... Antonelli has the better eye, and seems to be able to avoid the strike out a bit better than Lombardozzi does. Lombardozzi can fly on the bases and is a better fielder. They both can play in the majors... it's just a matter of which one you want.

Between this year and last year, I have seen Moore in a little over 20 games and I highly doubt he could stick at a corner OF spot.  For a 1B, he has average range and below average speed, but for an OF he would certainly have well below average range and detrimental speed.  His bat is what will get him to the big leagues, but even that has some serious issues.  About the only thing keeping his chances alive is his excellent power.

Moore's hitting numbers would look a lot better off of 1B.  But if James Loney and Casey Kotchman have managed to carve out MLB careers, maybe Moore can, too.

I think I'd give Antonelli a shot and hope the MI defense holds up with Espinosa at SS.

I usually think the other way.

HS arms sometimes end up throwing slower, at least initially. Teams will work with pitchers to make their delivery repeatable. This can lead to a slight tick down in velocity. Once they get the routine down, we can then look for a increase in velocity

Been thinking about something (Probably a long way off...): What do we do with Rendon? Obviously, third base is blocked, as presumably is first with Morse. He couldn't play catcher, and CF is blocked by Harper, RF by Werth. Presumably the team doesn't put up with Desmond for much longer and moves Espinosa to SS. In that case, one of Antonelli and Lombardozzi get the call to play second, clogging that position. That leaves LF- where does Rendon play?
