Hulett singles, Aubrey scores (Marrero was also on base), Chiefs win 5-4.

...and Balester got the win.

OF Archie Gilbert continues to play well for AA/Harrisburg.

So far today he's 3-for-5, with a double and rbi.  (average up to .299)

I'm sorry, but 9 ks in 7 innings in AAA cannot be "unsustainable in the majors."

Hopefully we'll get a chance soon to see what he can do!

Well, probably next year, as I doubt the Nats add him to the 40 man this year... but sometime next year, I hope!

He's actually averaging over a strike out an inning so far, this season.

46 K, 43.1 IP

3 walks.

"National League teams can't afford to waste a roster spot on someone who can't play defense"

Says the Rochester Red Wings announcers about NL teams having to find a DH when they play in AL parks.

Chiefs win 2-0 after intentionally walking the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th

That's six in a row.

Milone, Peacock, and Meyers wow

They make Lannan, Marquis, and Livo completely expendable going forward.

Not quite, let's see what they do in the majors first whenever they get a chance, if they get a chance.

Time for Manno to get a bump to Potomac.  He is putting up identical numbers to his GCL stats, so far 27 Ks in 18 innings with only 4 walks.  Has yet to give up a run.  His performance, advanced age for the league, and position as a reliever dictate that its time to move him up the ladder.

Anybody have updates on Tyler Moore? The lack of news on him has me thinking it's not going so well...

He's doing ok.  He's hitting for power like last year, but he can't get a walk to save his life (very low OBP).

2010 7th round pick Kevin Keyes just launched a two out 3-Run HR, his first of the year, to give the Suns a 7-1 lead in the 4th inning.

Tons of potential there. Goldstein wrote this about him in '09:

Quote
JH (Berkeley): What can you tell me about Texas outfielder Kevin Keyes? Potential first rounder a year from now, or one-dimensional slugger with holes in his swing?

Kevin Goldstein: His tools are just out of this world as he's a massive guy with a ton of athleticism. Definite first-round potential and he still has two years to put some things together before teams start picking in 2010.

He's mostly played LF (and a little RF) in stints with Vermont last season and Hagerstown this year. He committed 6 errors in 35 games in LF last season.

I think he's better suited for 1B like you mentioned and they will have to move him there at some point.

Rochester (Red Wings) has all of their home games televised live. I looks like the entire home schedule and they also televise some/all road games against the other upsate New York teams, Syracuse and Buffalo.  I think that's amazing...a minor league team with a tv contract.

Also, Maya is down 2-0 after the first inning.  :?

Ross Detwiler continues to get plastered. He is the worst pitcher I have ever seen at giving up 2 out runs.

Today in the first inning he had 2 outs and 1 runner on base and then proceeded to give up single, single, double, double, single.

1 IP 6 H 5 ER 0 BB 1 K

ERA up to 5.91. It's way past time to convert him to a reliever in attempt to salvage his career. Would open up a spot for Peacock in AAA rotation as well.

I can't really say I disagree. I wonder if he is hurt. He started the year really well but he has been terrible the last month or so and eventually they need to figure out what to do with him.
