Chiefs lose 2-1.

Top of the 9th, they get a leadoff single.  Antonelli who was 4-4 sacrifice bunts   moves the runner up to 2nd.  Hulett walks, runners on 1st and 2nd, one out.  Marrero who was 0 for 5 :spaz: flies out.  Valdez grounds out.  Game over.

Hansen is awesome, big fan. Young Lefty who currently tops in high 80s with good breaking stuff.

Harper 2/3 with a HR, 3 RBIs, and a walk.

The P-Nats have lost 10 in a row and are 16 under .500. Why send Harper there? crappy team and crappy stadium and Hood needs much more ABs there so there is no room in Potomac's roster. Unfortunately Harper is stuck in Hagerstown for a while which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The Senators have won 10 in a row after tonight's 10-8 victory. Both Lombardozzi and Norris each had 2 hits and an RBI in tonight's game.

I'll stand by my opinion that when it's time for Harper to be promoted, it should be to Harrisburg. I can't imagine that the competition level at Potomac is that much greater than Hagerstown. I say call him up in another couple of weeks, at least around July.

Here's the thing though how will milones stuff translate at the highest level.

Not unlike Mike Bacsik, maybe.

wow 13 runs given up by Hagerstown's pen in the 5th-8th innings.

Down 13-12 going into the 9th.

I sure hope Milone is at least a better person than Bacsik is/was.

In terms of pure minor league numers

Bacsik AA - 41 GS - 3.81 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 1.1 HR/9, 147/65 K/BB, 5.3 K/9, 2.4 BB/9, 2.26 K/BB
Milone AA - 27 GS - 2.85 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 0.6 HR/9, 155/23 K/BB, 8.8 K/9, 1.3 BB/9, 6.74 K/BB

Bacsik AAA - 210 G - 4.16 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 1.2 HR/9, 537/201 K/BB, 5.8 K/9, 2.2 BB/9, 2.67 K/BB
Milone AAA - 9 G - 3.63 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 0.6 HR/9, 59/4 K/BB, 9.3 K/9, 0.6 BB/9, 14.75 K/BB

So far, it seems, Milone is the better pitcher. How well that translates to MLB ball is anyone's guess... but if you just want to compare their minor league careers, Milone has fared much better than Bacsik ever did.

From Goldstein's blog today:

Quote
Matt Antonelli, 2B/3B, Nationals (Triple-A Syracuse): 4-for-4, HR (1), R, RBI, SB. Former big prospect with the Padres is trying to resurrect career; .389/.450/.583 in ten games since moving up to Triple-A

Quote
Bryce Harper, OF, Nationals (Low-A Hagerstown): 2-for-5, HR (12), 2 R, 3 RBI, BB, SB. With four stolen bases in his last two games, he's suddenly on pace for 30/30 possibilities.

Quote
Derek Norris, C, Natoinals (Double-A Harrisburg): 2-for-4, R, RBI. Hitting .299 in last 20 games and .238/.378/.465; continues to look like a Mickey Tettleton-like producer.

I'd hope the organization will give Antonelli a look. I'd rather see him than Bixler.

Bacsik had a fairly stellar 2006 for AAA Tucson in the PCL, just before heading to the Nats.  11-0,   2.79 ERA, 1.149 WHIP.  Certainly good enough to warrant a shot flipping that 85 mph fastball up against the big boys.
