Of course the Nats ignore Antonelli and instead keep Bixler.

Remember, the most important traits a player can have are playing the game the right way and being a good guy.

Instead of applauding the Nats FO for seeing promise in a guy who was basically given up for dead and hasn't hit above the Mendoza line since 2007 you're hammering them for not bringing him up to the majors based off 78 at bats?

Maybe they want him to play every day? You know, something he won't do in the majors.

Just a thought.

Marrero should be up.
i've watched a lot of him and i know the organization gives the same ole speech, but he really does look like a different person over there @ 1B.  he's lot a lot of weight and he's making some nice picks.  morse looks comfortable @ 1B and we can't lose his bat, but I'd rather have Marrero in the line-up than what we've been trotting out there most days.

Marrero 5 starts @ 1B
Morse 3 starts @ LF / 2 starts @ 1B
Nix the rest of time in OF

i know it won't be a popular opinion among posters here, but we need a jolt to the offense.

Morse back to LF
Marrero at 1B
Werth to CF
Nix to RF

Also get Antonelli prepared for a callup.

In addition to a jolt in the lineup, we need to see what Marrero can do at the big league level. Can he hold the job?

That could help Rendon settle in on a long term spot, and could allow us to use money elsewhere if we have a homegrown kid to take the spot.

We're not going anywhere this year. Not saying tank, but give a couple kids a shot to show what they've got.

Also, anyone thought about Potomac's rotation next year? It realistically could consist of:
Robbie Ray
AJ Cole
Alex Meyer
Matt Purke
Sammy Solis

That could be a legitimate big league 5 in a few years.

Solis could be in AA with Jordan replacing him, but still ... That could be sick.

Love it.

Bobby Hansen should be in Potomac next year, too.

David Hill could fit in as well. He's pretty advanced.

Brian Bixler had 60 plate appearances at Syr before he as called up.  Matt Antonelli has had 70 so Brian Bixler deserves to be in the majors more based on those 10 FEWER plate apperances?

Remember we're trying to replace Brian Bixler here.  BRIAN BIXLER!

I don't understand this Marrero business. How would inserting a .279/.340/.429 AAA line at 1B give our offense a "jolt"? He's been better recently, but just barely. It's not like his .812 May OPS is world-beating. He hasn't posted an ISO over .170 since 2008.

As stupid at MLEs are, Marrero's projected as a .231/.284/.348 hitter in the pros right now. Which means you're actually going to lose runs by shifting Morse to LF and taking Nix out of the lineup. So what's the point?

The problem with out lineup isn't 1B or LF - it's the fact that right now we have 3.5 black holes in the lineup (CF, 3B, SS, C whenever Pudge plays).

who's to say he doesn't hit better in this line-up?

And an OF of Morse-Werth-Nix could be better than what we have

The selling point on Marrero is he adjusts to every league. He is a steady, if not spectacular producer that has 20-25 HR power potential. Morse can play third, left and right as well as first, so you don't lose flexibility. The other part is he deserves to be promoted because he's flat out better than Bixler,Stairs and Ankiel.

thank you.

blue is not one to harp on an issue very much (it's a compliment), but i've noticed you have stuck up for marrero a lot.  why isn't he up here.

hey if it's another crappy, lost season, than let's see what he can do.  ideally, morse would stick at first, but ya know what ... our offense is so freakin bad we just may have to sacrifice a bit of our defense to let marrero play 1B and move morse back to LF.

we're sure as hell not making any kind of trade soon, so may as well make a move to bring up a right handed AB and get rid of bixler/stairs/ankiel.  but that'd require roster shuffling and as we all know, we could be a .500 team

Danny Rosenbaum last night in Potomac: 7 IP, 9H, 1R, 1ER, 5K, 0BB, his ERA is down to 2.50

Bloxom went 2-3 as well.

Destin Hood is the only P-Nat to make the All-Star team.  Both the SAL and Carolina league AS teams will be managed by Nats organization coaches (Daubach and LeCroy).

Only problem = Who's leading off?

I would still take that outfield in a heartbeat though. (I mean with the current options we have now)

Anyone know the back story on Archie Gilbert?  Undrafted out of college, kicked around several organizations (Red Sox, Royals, As), had a good 2009 for Midland, regressed, now playing in Harrisburg and kicking butt.  27 year old man among children. 1:1 K:BB ratio, .297 / .371 / .485.
