LaRoche has already help the Nats win games.

I hope LaRoche is good for us.  His park (and league) adjusted numbers are a little concerning, though.  He'd still be a better left-handed bat than anyone currently on the team, but I don't think he'll be as good as he looked last year in Nats park.  I know we're not the only ones interested in LaRoche, but I bet we outbid them (wow does it feel good to say that).

Got to see LaRoche when he was in AAA with the R-Braves, he wasn't there long. Good guy, I think he'd be a good fit.

The thing everyone needs to remember about LaRoche is... we're all going to hate him for the first half of the season.

Career:

1st half - .252/.327/.449/.776

2nd half - .295/.354/.535/.889

would you do more than 1 year for Laroche?

2 or 3?

Absolutely, positively frigid in April and May

Undoubtedly that will take place. He's a good player, he needs to focus (well documented issues).

I know, that's not the entire battle though. I am quite sympathetic, and I think he was diagnosed late too. I think he'll continue to improve.

Mike Hessman, just for the non-stop "Dr. Johnny Fever" references.
Sooo, not to change the subject, but ya gonna change your avatar - now that Dunn is gone?

Back to thread topic -I would like Laroche or Cantu.......if we are taking votes..

Indeed.  I didn't get diagnosed until late in life (I was 26) but it was a MAJOR change for me once I started treatment.  Something I wish had happened years earlier.

Fielder's name was brought up earlier - just heard on XM-175 that Orioles and Brewers have opened up preliminary trade talks regarding Prince Fielder.

If he's really on the market I'd love for us to be in on those talks...

As would I.  Prince Fielder is a bad ass.

LaRoche has shown some pretty clear platoon splits throughout his career and last year.  From Fangraphs splits page for LaRoche:

           BAv/ OBP/ SLG  BB/K  wOBA
Career  .277/.349/.501   .48    .360     vs. RHP
2010    .259/.331/.471   .34    .346     vs. rHP

Career  .254/.307/.446   .24    .326     vs. LHP
2010   *.264/.297/.462   .14    .328     vs. LHP

*BABIP (.347) out of line with career (.324)

A LaRoche / Morse platoon could be quite productive.  Morse killed lefties last year and throughout his career.  A platoon playing at career averages could get you .370 wOBA.  That is not quite Dunn level (.379 in 2010). but is Billy Butler level and top 10 in MLB in 2010.

Weren't people suggesting simlar things with a Bernadina/Morse platoon?

If we get him this is required to be his entrance.

Actually, I think someone here was saying that about Harris / Maxwell in their sig line.  :bag:

The difference is that Morse at this point is a heck of a lot less projection than Maxwell was, and that LaRoche has done it for more plate appearances than Harris will ever see.

I feel a return to an old avatar coming . . .

I think it's sink or swim time with him, so AAA makes sense to me. I guess he could be a Ryan Howard but I think he's more like a Brad Eldred. We'll have to see.

No way would I start Marrero at AAA.  Put him at AA and tell him that he dominates or he'll be playing for a new organization soon.

That's one of the main reasons I am not a fan. He just doesn't seem into it. Or at least he didn't use to. Mental problems. Let's hope he has overcome them.

Or, as you called past Nats with that problem, "handicapped".

Don't all lineup for LaRoche jerseys just yet...

Quote from: @AdamKilgoreWP
Am told Adam LaRoche to #Nats is not imminent, not at all a lock to happen.
