Random thought: what if we got rid of Dunn and are saving money because Riz plans on offering Albert Pujols 10/300?
That's a great plan right up until the moment that Pujols re-signs with the Cards.

Also, anyone like Ty Wiggington? He has good position flexibility.
No. He's too good. Riggleman would give him way too much playing time.

No. He's good enough to start at second or maybe third, but not at first.

Wouldn't you think they want 65% Ramos and 35% Pudge?

Only in a base 7 system

Cross Lance Berkman off the list. He signed with the Cards. Carlos Pena at first base is moving closer to becoming a reality.

He's going to play in the outfield?

At this point, I think the only options are Pena, LaRoche, or Morse/Willingham.

We could always try out a trade for Jorge Posada.  I'm sure he's still got his 1b glove...

Wait, what? The Cardinals are the LAST team in baseball to need Lance Berkman. By which I mean, not only do they have no DH spot, they have the best first baseman of the last, say, 30-50 years. Or maybe ever. And Berkman in the outfield will just be a gigantic year-long fart joke.

Strangest move of the offseason so far.  Where does he play?

Left, Holliday to Right. It will be like a sign in the outfield that says "hit it here."

LF with Holliday shifting to Right.

IMHO the strangest move this off-season is the fact that none of the guys we cut so far have ended up in Cleveland.

Manny didn't force them to sign any/many of our guys until into ST if memory serves, aside from possibly Kearns. Most of them were fairly late, definitely post-WM. Give Manny some time. He'll be picking up Lastings Milledge before the season is over.

OMG...those two, with supermanager's hatred for playing Rasmus, could be so bad that AlGo could put up a .750 OPS against them.

Just wow.  I can't fathom how the Cards could do their negotiations at a hookah bar.

What happened to Casey Kotchman?  Is he worth a minor league deal and invite to ST?

LaRoche has to be Rizzo's #1 first base target now, right? He wants better D at first, and LaRoche is a better defensive first baseman than Pena. Seriously, we need to get LaRoche. 2 or 3 years at $8 mil per would probably get it done.
