no but he will continue to insult people left and right.

also rizzo acknowledged that cliff lee the chances of lee coming to DC are small.

oh great ... bargain bin pickups here we come!!!

61-101 record!!!
Hey we just learned that the Texas water is radioactive though, so that's one suitor down!
He's not going to say he's not interested in player x at this point, because showing interest, even if it's BS, helps remind potential signees that there is competition for the position.  You could have probably named just about any free agent 1st baseman and he'd have said about the same thing.
Dude, at least force him to come up with the arguments himself.

Rizzo is on MLB radio now

 - says the trade market is slower then he expected,

"We'll offer Burgess, Stammen and Tyler Moore for Greinke"

"What do you mean 'was your offer a joke?"

"Listen, the Nationals are stocked with prospects. You should be lucky I am even offering one of them to you."

"Hello?"

LoL

You need to work some sort of discussion of UZR into the above though.

Dayton Moore doesn't deal in UZR. He deals in Unicorns and glitter.

Seriously, though, from what Kenny Williams said, and others have hinted at... I think Rizzo either over values the Nats prospects, or, he asks for the moon for very little in return.

Wasn't that why Towers said he didn't deal with Bowden?

and yet he's pulled off a number of deals, so who knows what to believe.

Dayton Moore would have just asked for Pete Orr to be included.

You have to give Moore some credit. He's done a fine job with the Royals farm system.

You mean he picked first in every round a bunch of times? Big deal...

Cross DeJesus off the list of available OF'ers.

Quote
Athletics acquired OF David DeJesus from the Royals for RHP Vin Mazzaro and LHP Justin Marks.

Hard to imagine the Nats couldn't have come up with a better package.

So much for Rizzo looking for good OF'ers for 2011.  :?

Nieves is pushing for Pena. He should be pushing for a roster spot
I saw that.  "Nieves: Pena would be good fit with Nats"

I mean, declining, cheap, dumpster dive type player?  Actually, he's right.

I didn't know former players had a say on the roster.

Basically, any article that's written by Ladson should have a disclaimer on the top that says;

"I hate Adam Dunn"

It would make his articles much more readable, and the underlying hate would be out in the open.

DeJeus was traded for a pitcher with an almost 5.00 ERA

Pena's line in the PCL (Portland) once he was picked up:  142 ABs (159 PAs) .324 / .390 / .556, 9 HRs, 34 RBIs.  Looks a lot like late 2007 here.

Why do the Yankees have to be such freaktards. Yeah, keep attempting to steal everyone off the free agent market you douchebags.

Agree. (Side note: I hate to admit it, but I saw Yogi Berra get stung by a bee in the visitors bullpen before my first Nats game. My dad and I both laughed. Sorry -- that was just a proper District upbringing. I've actually met Yogi, and my son delivered pizzas to his house a couple of times, and can say that Yogi is one of the nicest people you could ever find. )

The Lesson should be that a team with a big market can spend big and depend that their market will return several times what they spent. It is foolish for owners in a rich market, like Washington, to put their team on a tight budget, to go dumpster-diving for bargain players, and to give the fans a string of terrible seasons.

Of course, Steinbrenner showed that impetuous dumb spending can produce mediocre teams, like the mid-80s Yankees, but if you spend, trade, and draft smart enough to make the playoffs every year, you will draw 3 million fans.

If the Nats don't do anything else this winter, sign Adam Dunn. Have Ladson replaced as a ceremonial apology for all the leaks the Nats management allowed to jab Dunn. Then sign the big guy.

No. He built them from the worst farm system in baseball to the best in just 3 drafts. It's not like the 1st rounders are the reason for the team's farm system success. They had the 2nd pick (Moustakas), 3rd pick (Hosmer), then the 12th pick (Bust Aaron Crow), and 4th pick (Christian Colon, TBD). Only 3 drafts. If they can do it, the Nats can do it also.

Apparently, according to MLB Trade Rumors, the Angels are prepared to spend over $100 mil on Crawford. Another OF'er to cross off the list. No way do the Nats offer more than $100 million for an OF.

Langerhans for Morse.  Capps for Ramos.  If that approach brings us one trade each year of that quality, I'll take it.

Very disappointing to hear Rizzo mention Pena as a possibility.  Hope tomterp is right and he was just taking whatever name and saying that they're a possibility.

Looking at the KC roster, wouldn't Guzman be Moore's wet dream?

Damn.  The day after saying we should look into Hammer to them for one of the excess SP.

Is Billy Beane dead?  Oakland wins the posting bid for a Japanese SP, trades two young P for a moderately expensive rental OF, gets rumored by one place to get Dunn.  What the hell is going on there?
