Elijah Dukes is close to signing with Tobasco Olmecas of the Mexican LeagueBy AllanBookmark & ShareThis is an early rumor, and we’re still waiting for confirmation, but former Washington National’s outfielder, Elijah Dukes, is close to signing with Tobasco Olmecas of the Mexican League (Triple-A).Dukes was released by the Nationals on March 17.Dukes was expected to be the Nationals’ starting right fielder, but his poor Spring offense sealed his fate. He was 3 for 20 (.143) with five strikeouts. Justin Maxwell and Roger Bernadina will compete for the starting right field job.Dukes, 25, hit .250 with 8 home runs and 58 RBIs in 107 games with the Nationals in 2009.
Nick Johnson hits his first HR in pinstripes on this tour.
Big Jon Rauch is making the Twinkies forget all about Joe Nathan. 5 appearances, 5 saves, era 1.80, WHIP 1.23.

A left fielder, he joins a crowded outfield in Washington that includes Lastings Milledge, Elijah Dukes and Austin Kearns. There had been speculation Willingham might be asked to shift to first base, but Bowden was clear: "We acquired him as a corner outfielder, not a first baseman."
Yeah... he was the cleanup hitter today.
