These are mostly garbage pitchers, so it's a demonstration of good patience.

according to Nieves (via Zuckerman's blog), the majority of the "fastballs" he threw were actually Sinkers.

Which comes from a crack Debbi Taylor "sideline" interview with Nieves that appears late in the game. Nieves had the same sentiment.
