Disappointed the Rangers grabbed Garko, who hits lefties much better than Repko and played both RF and 1B. That was the cut loose player worth grabbing.

I agree. I've been a big Garko fan since he played at Stanford. He was there one of the years I worked on the ground crew for the College World Series. Great guy, or at least my interactions with him were great. Would love to have seen him in a Nats uniform. He caught in college too, could have been an emergency catcher while playing a solid utility guy all over the field as well

Well, no, he's not a superstar, but he is a nice piece to have on the bench who can play a variety of positions. We don't exactly have a lot of guys who have a lot of experience at first should something happen to Dunn.

Plus, he's a solid fielder.

Would have been a much better idea than running the futility player out there.

I don't think 4 starts in right qualifies as bona fides. How is he any different than Mike Morse?

I'm guessing he's smaller and doesn't slug as well, but I'm not going to look it up as it's moot.

Career wise, Garko is a .441 SLG and Morse is .409

Versus LHP for their career, Garko slugs .506 and Morse slugs .437

But, Garko is quite a bit shorter than Morse.

I'm actually furious Mock made the team. He had a terrible spring and he doesn't have the mentality/make-up to be a MLB pitcher. In most of his outings he gets shelled or he nibbles and he has a bad attitude while doing it.

What a freakin joke.

Hopefully it's just for a bit of rehab work for Olsen. I just don't think Mock is going to be a serviceable starter.

Well I'm certainly not going to be ASSCLOWNing and rooting for him to fail. I want the team to win no matter who is on the field. I just have my doubts of us winning very many games with Mock on the mound.

I agree on all accounts. Again, I hope he does well, I just have a feeling he's going to fail time-after-time ... he's just not that good.
