Ha, I'm a few pounds heavier myself. Chasing around a 3 year old will lead to lazy free time.

I am still waiting on my math on how losing Kearns, Dmitri, and Villone and then adding players led to the payroll decreasing.

I have faith that Rizzo knows WTF he's doing.

I know its a weird feeling in NatsTown to think that the GM might have a slight bit a clue....but still.

I am actually expecting to hear that Willingham is a Giant or a Rockie and we get a secondbaseman and a pitching prospect.

Dmitri & Kearns were over 20% of the teams payroll. They've been replaced by non-arbi players.

I like Rizzo and I love the additions theyve made to the front office. Unfortunately Rizzo doesn't write the checks.

I like Rizzo, but I'm not convinced that he has all the weapons ($) available to him.  He seemed pretty desperate to get a GM job, thus he would take one even with cheap arse owners.

I like the Capps signing and I think the pen will be improve
I like everything they've done with the Pen, I like the Marquis signing.

So get real. Garland turned them down for more money. A Willingham trade fell through, so they ponied up almost 5 million for him. They paid for Bergmann and Nieves. Hudson wants far more than he is worth. They are still in on Wang, and rumor was that Sheets wanted to be signed without sharing his medical records. They are still looking for trades, and I hope they get Bonderman.

They should have cut Bergman and Will Nieves, Blah. You can defend them all you want.

Ok, so when are fans allowed to be upset? Spring Training? Start of the season?  Or do we need to lose 90-100 games again?

Alright, I think 2.5 pages of bickering back and forth about the ownership is enough.  If you guys want to continue that line of discussion I'll politely ask you to take it to another thread.

just a slight correction here.

Garland did not get more money from the Padres.  we offered him something similar to what we gave Marquis(2/15).  he turned it down in order to play on the west coast.

You can have all the impotent rage about past seasons that you like.

What should they have done differently this offseason?

They even had a bid in at the end for Aroldis Chapman until the Reds grossly overpaid him. Signing players just to sign them is stupid, and Rizzo would lose all of this credibility if he paid $10 million for Hudson. It's idiocy.

At this point, I'm thrilled they sucked last year because another #1 pick is coming up, and I'll get tickets to Opening Day.

Are you suggesting that Hudson is going to get anywhere close to 10 mil from the twins?  All i know is this...  The owners have been feeding us a line of BS for 5 years.  They said they were investing in the future and they didn't. Now, because a guy who was desperate to get a GM job is in "charge" things have changed?  If we are not going to compete at the major league level (and yes that might mean overpaying for a few guys at times to get talent on the field) we should be overpaying for guys like Chapman.

nope.

but you are acting like he is.

realistically, he's going to get somewhere between 3-5m with incentives.  which is what we were offering in the first place.

There's no proof of this, it's rude and insulting, and by all accounts Rizzo is doing a bang up job.

There are probably different points to be made about things. I would say you can be mad about Hudson not signing when he actually doesn't sign. Right now it is just a rumour that he is signing with the Twins. When pen is to paper then people can be mad about that and that goes for all free agent signings.

You can be mad about offseason moves that weren't made when spring training begins, and you can clearly and concisely point to which moves were bad and what you would have done differently with full knowledge that if said move works out during the season people retain every right to rub it in your face. The same applies to people that like a move.

When the season actually begins you can be mad whenever you want within reason. I think the angrier people get the funnier it is. How many times have people on this board laughed when we end up winning a game but a strike out in the fourth inning cause a few posters to claim that player was trash and not a real major leaguer and a bum only for said player to end up having a good game and leading to the team winning.

The Lerner's haven't owned the team for 5 years.

Wasnt talking to you.

We were offering 3 and upwards to 4 mil with incentives.  Chances are 4 with incentives to 5 would have sealed the deal weeks ago, but alas the Lerners would have had less money to swim in.  I will be there opening day, but after that they won't get another penny from me.  By July, the great Pudge will be catching in front of 15k every night.

Hudson's asking for 6m guaranteed as a starting point.

the Nats are the only ones willing to even go to 4 at all with him.  He'll take 3-4m to play for a contender, like the Twins. he wants 6m and not a penny less to play for the Nats.

get your money back. sell your OD tickets. then boycott the Nats. have fun.
