Plan B time!  Either get Kennedy or let Desmond start the season at short.

Don't be surprised if #Nats GM Mike Rizzo made a trade for a second baseman.

Yeah it would've been nice to have gotten O-Dog, but I am still happy with the offseason for the most part.

The #Nats most likely will go after 2B Adam Kennedy or have a double-play combination of Ian Desmond at SS and Cristian Guzman at 2B.

Does 1 year of a 2B do ANYTHING to improve the club long term? Hudson vs Kennedy, Kennedy may have a better year. What's the problem again?

I wanted Hudson after carefully looking at the numbers, but Kennedy looked good last year. Maybe the Twins offered an extra year? Maybe they want to give us what's-his-name back?

I didn't know Kennedy hit .289/.348/.410 with 11 HR, 63 RBI, 20 SB. That's a real solid line.

Hudson-esque, one might say. Rumor was they had an offer to Kennedy contingent on not getting Hudson already.

Yeah, plus he is a good fielder. Just had a down year in that department. If Rizzo knew he could get Kennedy for half of what Hudson was asking for, this makes sense. We're talking about a ONE YEAR deal here.

That's pretty solid, and I'd take that especially if he's an upgrade defensively over Hudson.

That'd be cool. Would love to see us sign him this week and focus on trying to get a rebuild SP like Wang (hehe).

I wouldn't be shocked if it was a two year deal, actually.

Hell, at this point I'd swoop in on Bedard and offer him a base of 2.5 million dollars and then throw in all the incentives the Mariners are offering.

It'd be 1 million more than the Mariners offered plus he's familiar with the area.

Hudson would have been nice but that little voice kept saying "he lost his job to Ronnie Belliard".

PA I can't believe you would really want Uggla.

50%. He has limitations, that's for certain. But rather than arguing about 9 vs 11 HR's, might as well put a real masher into the discussion.

And the cheapers might want to check on all their figures, because a) arbitration hasn't happened yet, and b) the payroll is well above $40 million.

I don't really care about offense, I want a good glove.  Hudson > Guzman >>>>>>> Uggla.

@MarkZuckerman: With O-Dog out of the picture, club source says #Nats will look at A.Kennedy but are willing to enter spring with Guzman/Desmond up middle.

but...but..but....HUDSON WAS THE ONLY 2ND BASEMAN IN ALL OF BASEBALL THAT WE CAN GET!!!!  :panic:

Ownership discussion has been split off to its own thread - http://www.wnff.net/index.php/topic,16600.0.html

All further discussion in this thread not relating to the Nats 2010 middle infield will be moved there.

I will avatar bet someone that either a starting pitcher or middle infielder will be obtained before opening day.

This.....and what a huge drop-off in the second half. Don't lament this as a failure for Rizzo until after Hudson completes the season.

Do tell, what huge drop off are you speaking of? It certainly wasn't a drop off in his stats.
