Be skeptical of anything that's coming out of the media.

1) It's clear that "real" news isn't being leaked from the Nats.
2) This is all a cat and mouse game to call someone's bluff.. who will blink first?
3) O-Dog remains our top priority left, besides for adding another veteran starter.

It apperars that Adam kennedys' name is being floated as an aquisition by the Nats . It could very well happen or it could be a negotiating tool to make Hudsons salary demands more realistic given his declining skills. Kennedys and Hudsons' basic numbers were very similar last season but Kennedy is two years older.

Also, Belliard is still around but not as an everyday candidate for 2B. I would rather have him than Morse as the first pinch hitter off the bench.

Also, what has troubled me duruing this off season is so many posters are ceding SS to Desmond based on one month in the bigs and a stellar season in the minors. Does the names Hernandez, Gonzalez or Bonifacio ring a bell?

Yep.  No reason to need 30+ homers on this team.  Might as well stay with Fat Ronny.

In simple terms.
1. Our defense is BAD.
2. Our groundball pitchers will FAIL if our defense is BAD.
3. Our offense is GOOD.
Therefore, we need to improve our defense.
4. Dan Uggla is really, really BAD at defense.
5. Dan Uggla is also really, really BAD at any type of offense other than home runs.
Therefore, we should not sign Dan Uggla.

Why don't you stick to bashing your head against other morons and leave the real discussion to people who actually know baseball?

It won't work.  This kid is clueless.  He spent way too much time locking horns in football.

If Uggla even had slightly below average defense, he would a net upgrade, but with his defense, he makes us worse not better

Hope you aren't suggest Uggla is a worse defensive 2B  than Fat Ronny.  Having another 30+ homer guy in the team far outweighs defensive liability.

Does baseball reference have a way to compare players side by side?

I realize you goofy, rube.  You are telling me a liability at the plate like Adam Kennedy or Orlando Hudson's old ass is more valuable than Uggla?

His 2008 UZR wasn't bad. 2009 however . . .

for a team with zimmerman, dunn, willingham etc. yes.

i'd rather have 10 hrs and good defense at 2B than 30 hrs and the worst defense in the league.

we've already got a one-trick pony with questionable defense in our infield. we dont need another.

Uggla is nowhere near the worst 2B in the game.

offense was not the problem last season.

pitching and defense were.

dan uggla doesnt help pitching, and makes defense much worse.

defensively, if uggla is not the worst STARTING 2B in baseball, he is easily bottom 5.

Uggla doesn't get along with Hanley Ramirez.

i'll put it like this. i'll take uggla only if it is for guzman straight up, and he learns to play the outfield. and we trade someone else for a real second baseman. if he is even capable of playing outfield somewhat decently.

Four actually, bottom four.  Of the everyday starting 2b in baseball last year, there were only 3 worse than him.  (Flop was one of them, btw)
