ASSCLOWN was always bashing Beimel. When Beimel had that rut after his injury, ASSCLOWN was marching around these boards calling him a bum every five minutes.

Not as bad as NotlD. He hated that guy with a passion. I think a couple million on Beimel instead of Everyday Eddie and Villone would have been much smarter.

beimel would be a great addition.  I wouldnt mind Macdougal either.

I think Rizzo figures he's signed enough guys for the pen, but I think those two would put them over the top.

Are you "F"- ing kidding me -Ron Villone -who can't throw a strike to save his soul.....you just ruined my day.
Another season of Ron Villone - Oh Hell.......well they just might as well say they are not planning for a  .500 season................for Christ's sake.
And I bet that was due to Jim Riggleman, because he has said good things about Villone in interviews..............Oh Crap.....well I guess there had to be some bad news, but Kensington, Bergman, and Villone, all coming back again this season - Hell, I need a tylenol......

OH MY GOD THEY SIGNED SOME MINOR LEAGUE FILLER, LET'S ALL WRING OUR HANDS AND CRAP OUR PANTS!!!

Raise your hand if you still haven't realized that Bowden is no longer in charge and Rizzo knows what he's doing.

So far I count at least 4 or 5 hands.

Ladson... who lets face it... has a bit more insight into the team than we do, even if we wish he didn't... is projecting Villone to make the bullpen out of spring training.

Quote
washingnats    My projected relief corps: Brian Bruney, Sean Burnett, Matt Capps, Tyler Clippard, Eddie Guardado, Ron Villone and Tyler Walker.

Yuck.

Why the hell would the team need three lefties anyways?

Clippard basically qualifies as one as his change up is death to left handers.

If this turns out to be true, then I retract my previous sarcasm.  I'd bet against it turning out that way, but last time I did that, I ended up looking like

Ladson projects who he likes to make the team. Villone is a great guy, and I won't badmouth him this season. I think he will be a great pitching coach.

I'm sure Balester or Martin are nice guys too. You don't see Bill saying they'll make the team.

Rizzo? You mean the guy who gave us Logan Kensing last year?

Maybe Bill is afraid of Balester's stache?

At this point, Ladson's opinion is only slightly better than your opinion or anyone else's. Let's see how Spring Training goes and see how that shakes out.

It's been a long time since I've seen you make a post with any value.  Keep trying.  I know you can do it.

Okay, I'll try:

I think the Nats are going to improve a lot this year!  Mike Rizzo is clearly a very competent G.M.  Who cares if he hasn't been G.M. for a full year - I have full faith in him.

That better?

Knorr, maybe I'm giving you too much credit, but snarky jokes aside I really thought you would know better than to think Logan Kensing is some huge blight on Rizzo's record.  Does it really need to be explained?  Do you really believe that Rizzo is Kensing's #1 fan and he absolutely wouldn't have rather had someone else?

Of course not.  You are JMadding like a mofo right now.

I simply think there's enough evidence that we shouldn't just trust the front office just because Rizzo is in charge right now.  I mean the guy is fairly unproven.  Granted, he had a pretty damn good first offseason, but he's not Pat Gillick.

Edit: I don't think getting Villone is a forgivable move just because Rizzo did it.  It could be really bad.  Isn't Kiko Calero still available?  He was for a while.  Why not get him?  This team has enough depth against lefties.

I actually thought it was more NotLD-ish but I'll defer to your judgment

I'm not saying that at all, I just think it's ridiculous that every bum filler signing is greeted with wails of "woe is us, we suck again!" and the like.  I don't think anyone would deny that Rizzo is at least competent.  Time will tell if he is more than that, but for this team, competent is a huge step in the right direction.  I'm well aware of how this season will probably turn out, and just how badly it COULD turn out, but I think the fact that they're making real progress is worth a little hope and optimism.

Chief doesn't get it. These bums that we are signing to minor league deals will end up on our Major League roster for extended periods of time like what always happens. Sucks but true.

So who is it that Ron Villone is bumping from the 25 man?

He won't bump anyone, they'll bump themselves when they all throw out their arms.

Jason Bergmann, if you believe Ladson.  no options, so that  means bumped from the 40 man as well.

My guess?  Some of these MiLFAs will start the year in Syracuse and wait for a subsequent roster vacancy / injury before they move up.

I really hope the Nats avoid the bullpen purge of 2009 this season.

That was a nasty few weeks.
