Oh no - please don't think I'm laughing at his faith. I'm :lmao: at Harper becoming the next Tebow (open about his faith, successful, polarizing, hyped like crazy) and him Tebowing

Just clarifying.  ;)

how can anyone hate this kid.

1) his rep as cocky when he was coming up (you know, the exag eye black, the whole blowing a kiss thing when he rounded the bases after going deep,
2) jealousy

And I don't care.

After going 3-for-3 with a homer and two walks yesterday, Harper has posted the following stat line over his last six games: .522 average (12-for-23), five homers, 17 RBI and a 1.794 OPS.

Zuckerman is incorrect about that.  Harper is signed for four more years.  Coming up this year would not matter as to super 2, since he would be signed for three more years after that.  It's a common mistake local writers and fans keep making.

Why do we even after worry about the Super Two? That's basically presuming that Bryce Harper is going to leave given the first opportunity. They should be prepared for giving an extension down the road.

Mainly because he's shared his love of the Yankees, and the fact that his agent is not known for having his players re-sign with the team that drafted them.

Super Two does not even matter in terms of time to free agency. All it does is give the kid arbitration rights after his 2 year instead of after his 3d.  It does not make a difference in his contract if he is under contract for the extra year.  Where it does matter is after his initial contract.  Then he becomes in the eyes of an arbitrator like a guy who has gone through arb an extra time, so his award is likely to be closer to a 2d time or 3d time arb guy.  It's kind of like how Lannan's salary increases the more times through arb.

If Harper goes to arbitration, I hope he sets all time record amounts.

assuming he plays full time in 2013 and misses super 2, he's under contract through 2015 and would into arbitration with a $1 million base in 2016 instead of the normal league minimum base, so it's possible

Strasbourg was ready out of the gates and we still sent him down. I can't imagine a 19to year old Harper would start the year in the bigs. I've said all along he'll be up in June. Just can't see it any sooner.

I see why the Nats want to position themselves to keep him here as long as as possible but as a fan I really don't think about it that much. I will enjoy him while he's here and hope he stays.  We'll cross that bridge....

Last Night Bryce Harper Tweets:
Quote
Let's play Hanging With Friends. My username is 'mondo3407'. http://bit.ly/l3W5fR' #GamesWithFriends
8 Minutes later, I start a game with mondo3407.
6 hours later, I win the game via resignation by mondo3407, he didn't even try to solve my word. (Juniper, by the way, a great word for hangman)
I beat Bryce Harper at Hanging with Friends, probably along with 500 other people who did the same thing.
The end.
