Reminds me of the South Park episode where Kyle has to bring democracy to Cuba in order to go to a concert.

Doing better than Trout.

It will be tough not to expect much from the kid when he finally gets up to the majors.  Just need to keep my emotions in check during his likely slow start.

Nah. Boo him at every at bat he doesn't hit a homerun and throw pennies for each hit which drops in RF.

Apparently the late night trick or treating didn't wear him out. Harper yesterday went 2/4 with a HR, and 2 RBI. BA up to .290.

I imagine Davey will be pretty vocal about having Harper on the club if he thinks Harper deserves it.

I'm still hoping that we go into opening day with Harper-Crisp/Sizemore-Werth in the OF, Morse at 1B and LaRoche traded or in a reserve role.

My only concern with bringing Harper up to start the season is where do you bat him?  They probably want to bat him low in the order which means we still need LaRoche to break up the RH 3-4-5 of Zimm/Morse/Werth.

Would Davey be comfortable with Zimm-3, Morse-4, Harper-5, Werth-6?

If they don't sign a lead-off / CF type, then you could play Morse and Harper in the OF at the same time and still have LaRoche at 1B, but then we still don't have a lead-off hitter (unless Reyes replaces Desmond).

yeah, but would they go RH-RH-RH-LF in the 3-6 slots?

(Aren't these great problems to have?)

Kilgore speculates on Harper making the club out of camp:

But Harper’s standout play will at least give the Nationals a tough decision, and inform their decisions this offseason. With Morse and Werth occupying two outfield spots in their current plans, the Nationals would have decide how Harper, a new center fielder and first baseman Adam LaRoche fit together on their roster. You can see how many different options the possibility of Harper reaching the majors on opening day next year gives the Nationals.

Alright, let's say that they have Harper on the OD roster.  I'll go on record in saying that I don't think it will happen, but let's just say they do.  If that's the case, then I think they have to go and get Reyes.  Harper or Werth can man CF next year, then move Morse over to 1B and figure out if you want to slide Harper to LF or keep him there and decide how to fill that other spot accordingly.

I still think Harper would struggle Morse-style for a month or so in the bigs. So if they put him on the Opening Day roster, they have to agree to play him all season rather than waiting for two weeks and then sending him back down for "seasoning." He's either up or he's not.

Pretty much.

You saw how well promoting/demoting Trout worked this year.

Harper not playing tonight. Norris batting 2nd.  Hopefully Purke will pitch at some point.
