You would actually be surprised. I read through a lot of opposing team's minor league papers and most opposing pitchers WANT to pitch to Harper. They want to be THAT guy that struck him out or got him to pop out, etc. Like Brian Daubach put it, "for a lot of these guys, that is going to be the highlight of their career." Teams will keep pitching to him, except in late game situations in close games with runners on base.

i hate being a broken record ... but he really shouldn't be on that team anymore. bump him up.

Because minor league pitchers decide who they do and don't pitch to, not managers.

Okay? Read the last sentence I wrote. Then watch what happens in the rest of the games he plays in....

But while that note, it is quite common in the minor leagues for the managers to give the pitchers quite a bit of leeway when pitching to other players, even the best power prospect in generations. In the situation I described, not so much.

move him to harrisburg and if he dominates there, then our CF problems are solved for the next few years. Really, if he does to AA what he's doing to A, i don't see why he doesn't follow the Zimmerman path to the Majors.

1.426 OPS in his last 10 games, there's no reason now not to promote him to Potomac...although the Lerners must be upset that he's going to be ready for MLB before the 2012 Super Two deadline

.357/.455/.702 overall now in 84 ABs.

Potomac could sure use the boost and he would definitely face some tougher pitching in the Carolina League. I'd promote him in another week or so.

The problem in Potomac is that you have Hood in RF and Eury Perez in CF, neither of those two guys can be promoted and all three guys need to play everyday.

Meanwhile there's absolutely nobody in Harrisburg in the OF, so Bryce could continue to play in CF or RF without displacing someone.

I'd move him directly to AA and see how he adjusts to pitchers that can locate their breaking pitches and exploit his weaknesses in the zone (if he has any?!?).

exactly ... and honestly how much more could he learn at Advanced Single A than he is now. he's different than other prospects.

Wow, that's actually true. Harrisburg has only two OFs who are batting higher than .240, and they're each 28 years old.

I'm afraid AA would be too much too fast. He would basically be facing top prospects and guys pretty close to the Majors.

I agree with you in that the outfield is already crowded in Potomac so it's kind of hard to promote him unless one of those guys gets hurt.

you're just saying that so you can see him play at that suckfield Pfitz.

and I'm not saying Carolina League wouldn't present a challenge, but there's a very good chance he'd be ready for Harrisburg. If they bump him to Potomac, that's fine, but do it now.
