Sustain that .400+ OBP and .550+ SLG and they'll try to find him a more challenging level of competition.

3-3, 2B, HR, 6RBI, BB, they took him out in the 5th inning with the score 15-0

He'll be in Harrisburg very soon.

No need to rush. They'll move him to Potomac next.

So, supposedly, I hear they don't want him to go to Potomac because the field conditions are turrible

i'm not so sure.  Zimmerman skipped Potomac, and they didn't want to start Strasburg there either.  Given the conditions of the park, I'm guessing they move him straight to Harrisburg.

With that outfield in such poor condition, I wouldn't be surprised if he skips the P-Nats.

What the freak is the point of having a minor league affiliate that has such a horrible stadium, both for the fans and the players, that the organization refuses to allow their top prospects to even play there it's in such bad shape and fear of injuries? I mean, you have got a major problem when that happens. And since we skipped Zimmerman, it's something that's gone on for a half a decade without a fix.

They need to tear down that monstrosity and build a real minor league park, or else, and I hate saying this since Potomac IS so close, but move to another affiliate. That park is junk, just as a fan, from a fans experience. But when they refuse to play their big stars there, it's even worse for the players. What is/has it done to our organization with players not deemed "stars" that don't get the luxury of skipping that craphole? Anyone know of any players that have been injured playing at Pfitnzer, or suffered long-term, degrading type injuries? It's sickening to imagine that that craphole might actually be causing harm to the teams future by injuring our prospects, but clearly that's the case if they make our stars skip over A, which is usually the main area of development in the minors. God, why can't they just tear that damned place down and give Northern Virginia the minor league park it deserves. Sickening to think that with the economic influence of Northern Virginia, our minor league park is something Podunk, Nebraska wouldn't accept as a minor league ballpark. There's no excuse for it. And it's been this way for years, a decade even. With no real improvement. Tear it down. No rebuilding, no renovations. Tear it down, build a real ballpark, modern, 21st century style. Just get that blemish known as Pfitnzer off the Nationals organization, it's an embarrassment.

I wonder if the existence of the Loudoun Hounds and its park present an opportunity, if the Nats were to grea$e the skids a bit.

I wonder if it is less about field conditions and more about money. It seemed that Potomac was looking forward to the gate receipts from Strasburg games, but they didn't get it. It would have been quite a boon for them to get a few games there. And the same can be said for Bryce. But with a choice between seeing SS or Harper in Woodbridge up close for a cheap ticket vs. watching the big league team at Nats Park, I could see the Lerners thinking that would be an unnecessary drain of casual observers. It'd be interesting to see if there is any organizational directive on this. It's kind of weird in a way, because they seem to do some cross-promotion with the Potomac Nationals, and one would think they would figure out a way to make it mutually beneficial all around. But, they clearly haven't seen a benefit of having the big gate draws play there. And that would be something you'd think they could take advantage of.

If it is a decision being made based on field conditions, that's truly pathetic.

Last year, a group was trying to build a minor league stadium to lour the PNats out to Loudoun. The PNats weren't interested.

But Zimmermann was a pitcher who had gone to college.

Actually, he was a third baseman, in this case.

Is Harper's plan to still leave us as soon as possible to play for the Yankees? That's how it was back when we drafted him..
No!  According to his father, who he's very close to, his plan is to be a National for his entire career, at least if his dad has any say in the matter. Read the article "For the Love of Bryce Harper" from the Washington Post magazine.  Well worth it.

Young Mark Lerner loves his Nats. I have a feeling he'll give Bryce Harper the biggest contract in baseball history before he lets him walk away. We have a guy with legit potential to be the greatest player in history. The Nationals have by now began planning out the finances to keep him in Nats Town.

I drove up to Hagerstown tonight to see him play, and he was on the bench the whole game.  Not even a pinch-hit appearance.  I wonder why.  (Oh, and regardless of the blow-out last night--why take him out when he was 3/4 of the way to the cycle?)

"They, they, they." Which they are you talking  about?

The Nats, they don't have much to do with the conditions at Pfitzner. The Nats only recourse would be to sign with another high-A team.

The P-Nats owners? He doesn't have th money or inclination to fix the stadium, sine it is owned by...

PW County, which doesn't have money for basic services, let alone money to put into a facility that is supposed to make money.

When it comes to moving the minor league affiliate elsewhere, the Nats. If the stadium won't or can't be fixed, and the Nats refuse to allow top prospects to play there, they are morons for keeping the minor league affiliate there.

For the stadium? It probably should be PW County, the they I was referring to. Bottom line, the team needs to threaten to move away, and if that doesn't get PW to do something, so be it. It's the same thing that happened in Richmond, and it's what should happen. If the stadium is so bad you risk your players playing on it, then screw the whole thing and leave. If that doesn't get them to do something, they are the ones that lose tax $$$. if that's not incentive enough to get them to do something, meaning they won't lose making money by not having a team, then everybody wins.
