I'll go with this. Rizzo has really turned lead into gold. He traded everyone that really needed to go (Belliard, Hanrahan, Milledge, Beimel, Johnson, Hernandez). He held onto the guys with a spark (Mac, Clippard, Willie). It'll be a fun winter.

He's killing lefties. I mean KILLING lefties. But is less than average against righties. Trevor Hoffman at his best never put up those kind of numbers against left handed batters.

Yeah, but it was gonna be like that situation with the Reds where they'd sue us once they found out he was injured. Rizzo doesn't want to get Bowden's rep.

I wasn't suggesting that, just pointing out that somebody was interested in Kearns.  He would likely have been moved if not for the injury, even if it was just a salary dump.

Already looked at the splits, assumed that's what you meant but wasn't sure.  Let's see him do it consistently next season before we proclaim him a lock for a spot in the pen.  What was it Dave B used to call guys?  Garbage time all-stars?

I thought you'd see the same thing. Against right handed batters, he has put up worse numbers than Jason Bergmann,Jesus Colome,Kip Wells, & Saul Rivera. All popular punching bags.

I hope the Nationals go out and get at least three vets for the bullpen, because I have little faith in any pitcher outside of Burnett.

Rubbing it in huh ;)

I think that was a rebuilding credibility move. Bowden would have moved a guy that was hurt on waivers no question. Rizzo thought he might be done, so he pulled him back and then they DL'ed him. That's my unsubstantiated theory.

I've never really liked Bergmann, but I do think that he could be a serviceable part of our bullpen next year if he is used properly.  The stat that really stands out to me is out of 35 runners he has inherited this season, only 4 or 11% of them have scored (league average is 31%).  Typically, IR% doesn't mean much with a sample size under 20 IR (see Wells, Kip), but 35 seems to be an adequate sample (10 IS - 54 IR career).  What I don't want to see is Bergmann being used in late game, high leverage situations.

Get Rafael Soriano and Storen can spend a season or two as a set up guy. Soriano is money and he'll weaken the Braves. Hell get Mike Gonzalez while your at it.
