sportsfan, how'd you like Howard's first pitch groundout there?
it's pretty hard to come back from a 4-0 deficit. that's usually lights out. i don't know about the Phillies but usually when a Nats pitcher gave up early runs the hitters were so demoralized that they usually just roll over and die like the Phillies hitters did tonight.
The Nats had a terrible offense last season. I can see how a ten run deficit might get into some of the younger guys' heads, but four runs? You must have never played baseball. Or maybe the manager never let you hit.
how else do you explain teams that get down early just rolling over offensively for the rest of the game? They try to press and to hit a 5-run HR with one swing and it doesn't work. snow-ball effect. with every scoreless inning the pressure only increases on the Philly hitters
hammondsnats, your signature contains an error. Adam Dunn's official nickname, according to Wikipedia, is The Big Donkey.
How are "Opening Night" teams determined? How do the the Braves get that honor for the second year in a row? Just luck?
