I had no idea until last night that Trevor Cahill was starting the season in the A's rotation.  He's their second starter.

I turned on this week's FREE PREVIEW of MLB Extra Innings and watch Randy Johnson issue an intentional walk, with one on base, in the 5th inning, to get to the pitcher, Yovani Gallardo, (whom I JUST drafted in a fantasy league that had its live draft TODAY).  Gallardo, who has a .244 career BA, slams a 3-run homer into LF, and knocks Randy Johnson out of the game!

if you have the mlb package, in the dodgers-padres game (dodgers up 5-2 in bot 7th - love vin scully) ... a kid named Everth Cabrera just got his first MLB hit (a double to left).  he's only 22 years old and hasn't played above single a-asheville until now (rule 5 pick).  has good speed, not really a hitter with pop but good with the glove.  it's an amazing story going from A to MLB.

He had 73 SB last year.

Our Nationals radio team interviewed Vin Scully in a pre-game show a few years ago.  He said that he got his professional broadcasting start at a D.C. radio station.  (After graduating, he sent about 150 letters to stations along the Eastern seaboard.  Scully ultimately got only one response, from CBS Radio affiliate WTOP in Washington, which made him a fill-in.)  Smoothest voice in baseball.

Are the Padres supposed to be wearing camoflage uniforms?  WHEN are they going to get some hitting?

If I am looking at this right and depending on if the Yanks/O's and Indians/Rangers stay the course-- by the end of the night the Nationals will be tied with Cleveland as the worst team in the league at this time. Again.

Harden's hitting 97 pretty consistently. He's making the Brewers look stupid right now. I hope he stays healthy. He's one of my favorite pitchers to watch.

Toronto Blue Jays are showing us how it's done right now. With two outs and runners on the corners, Marco Scutaro drew a walk from Cliff Lee and Aaron Hill hit a two-run single. The Indians could beat us to 0-5.

Roy Halladay just showed how it's done too. He put runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs in the second and then got 2 Ks and a fly-out to get out of the inning unscathed.

Yeah, let's declare the season over now and the Marlins World Champs!

Dombrowski brings to the franchise a once, or maybe twice, in a lifetime player who is readily identified as a certain HOFer.  A young player who puts up numbers and that match and draws comparisons to Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays and Hank Aaron.  You are fortunate to be able to look forward to watching this great player develop for your team.  Then you get a new owner who thinks fans come to the ball park (those that do anyway) to watch a bunch of fat tubs of lard dance.  So, the asswipe rips your heart out and trades away the HOFer for Cameron Maybin, and instead of paying the HOFer, spends $12 milliion a year on the friggin' Manatee Tub of Lard Dance Team.  That's something worth trying to forget.

No, not the worst problem in the world, but not a fun baseball memory.  But it is almost as bad as having St. Claire as the pitching coach for another team I love.
