I think with Desmond, the organization set the expectations way too high, so may people were disappointed when he didn't even come close to those expectations.  The system is barren of MIF prospects, as has been pointed out many times, so giving up on the kid before his team control runs out would be an unwise decision.  Also, he was touted for his defensive ability most of all and has not really lived up to that billing.  This season is the first in which he has put up respectable numbers in which anyone would be able to envision him as a part of the Nats future.  I don't think it is unreasonable that people became disillusioned with a player that has had a .688 career minor league OPS in 6 seasons and has struggled with fielding.  Hopefully all the struggles he has gone through have paid off and he has grown as a player, and it seems that he has finally broken the wall.  He was a late bloomer and I think a lot of people are going to start respecting his talent and ability again.

2-2, 3.16 ERA, 34/6 K/BB ratio @ AA-Harrisburg (3-2 after they get the win today - Sens up 16-2 in top 8)

Could he be the next John Lannan? From Potomac to Washington in one year.

I dunno, I think JMad was down on his defense a while back, maybe a few others too.  Can't really recall.  It does seem like we've been hearing about him for years though.
J-Mad doesn't like him.

The Nats rushed Desmond but he appears to be coming into his own. He was better last year and is impressing so far this year in AA.

I'm kind of surprised how well he is performing. Anyone have a scouting report on him?

Yeah 2 cups of coffee (Sept. callups I reckon), 2006 was his first real season (also they moved his position twice)

Norris is 2-2 today with a HR and a single. He also got a SB, his 4th of the season. Potomac's offense is in a funk and they could use Norris.

They should promote him soon, most likely, but then again, I'm thinking of going up to Hagerstown soon to take in a game with both Norris and Storen on the roster, so I hope they hold it off just a tad longer.

Carlos Alvarez (Esmailyn Gonzalez) is playing for the DSL nationals, here are his stats. : http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Alvarez%2C%20C%20%20SS&pos=&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=504078

Glad to see he is back, I would promote him to Hagerstown personally, to see what he would do.

 The Chiefs just scored 3 runs off of Smoltz in the 5th inning.

Sac fly by Solano and Patterson had a two-out, 2-Run Double.

Padilla had a bunt single to extend the inning before C-Pat came to the plate. Padilla is batting .364 on the season. Worth looking at as a #5 outfielder? I know he's 29 but he can hit. Batted .317 last year in AA/AAA in 388 ABs and is doing it again this season.

Last I heard, he couldn't get a visa because of, you know, fraud. Would be a good reason he's in the DSL.
