true and that's Rizzo's fault but his numbers are really good.

Espinosa went through a really cold slump but he rebounded nicely.

48/187 (.257 BA/.379 OBP/.471 SLG), 13 Doubles, 9 HRs, 26 RBIs, 36 Runs, 31 BBs, 55 Ks, 11 SBs.

I don't think so. Doesn't the team get a bye? I thought Potomac waited it out while the two winners of the opposing division gave it a go, or am I just imagining that?

I'd say Espinosa is hitting well this season, with an .850 OPS from a middle infielder, but someone will remind me that OPS is not hitting. Right Chief?

balester is a good young power pitcher, martin is doing well. The nats have rookies in the bigs that will be replaced by olsen soon, they also have options for picks in the upcomming draft. Those rookies go down to aaa, the thing is all want to make it up, some back up, and they face a log jam as I see it. Every good game that balester, martin etc. pitch is being watched by every other team as well, they will make it up soon with or with out the nats.

They changed that rule last year. The team with the next best record gets in. The P-Nats played a series with Wilmington before the championship series against Myrtle Beach

Balzig777, in your opinion - would Martin or Balester likely be part of a trade in the event that it isn't via the NATs that they progress from AAA this year?

The other article that this one points to regarding Martin mentioned his Intnl League leading SO/BB ratio being the best in the league. I sure hope he keeps it up. There are a lot of kids as well as us adults from his hometown rooting for him.

Martin has done really well throughout his starts at syracuse, very consistant. bally had a rough start do to some changes that were being made with regard to his pitching motion, the changes seem to be for the better as shown by his last few starts. My opinion is that it will boil down to, do the nats keep a home grown talent or the guy brought in from outside.Their numbers as of late have been close with martin edging balester out slightly. But as I said before there seems to be a logjam especially after this draft... time will tell.

Balzig/Stressfree... I would be shocked if the Nats trade Balester at this point of his career. They own him for 2-3 more years. I see Bally being traded for only 1 reason and that is for a deal for an All-Star 2nd baseman whose team needed pitching help now! You could see Bally or JD involved in a trade that involves Willingham but that would sure leave the Nats short on Starting pitching that is Major League ready to step up if injuries or struggles start within the rotation.

The Nats have a luxuary in Bally and JD Martin. Their stock is huge right now.
We will see what plays out.

I dunno, I think JMad was down on his defense a while back, maybe a few others too. Can't really recall. It does seem like we've been hearing about him for years though.

if you recall, frank robinson had high praises for this kid a few years back after a hot spring training and i think that got the fanbase excited b/c he could've been a homegrown kid making it to the bigs. his defense has been suspect that's for sure (22 errors). last year he batted .251, 12 HR, 46 RBI. the injury sure didn't help his development this year, but ever since coming off the DL, he's been on fire. let's hope his defense gets better and that he continues to rake at the plate.
