and from what I'm reading, the deal is not 8/180. it is 8/170.

and i'm not blaming the lerners when i say . . .

it's common sense if the sawx/yanks offered $21.5-22 mil per year, the nats would have to offer $23-24 if we wanted him.  it's a shame that's the way it is, but when you have a losing team, we're not exactly an appealing organization.

i hope to god we have a savior somewhere in our minor league system, b/c this was a huge opportunity to miss out on getting better for short-term and long-term.

Now the Lerners have to prove they were serious and devote that money to other FA's to improve the team. There is no point in claiming that they tried and then sit on their asses and do nothing.

nah they really didn't need him as much as we did or the o's.  they still have a great shot of going to the playoffs.

But the Yankees have made 3 major signings and what have the Red Sox countered with?  It could easily be the Rays and the Yankees going to the playoffs and sqeezing out the Sox.  On top on that, the Red Sox just got PLAYED by Boras and the Yanks.

Dunn and Hudson are not the answers. Despite not getting Tex we shouldn't go crazy and shell out money for these bums. Yes, they need to spend some money but it's not wise at all to just throw money on players just because they are available. It has to be the right player.

either way, we need to acquire a left-handed hitting run producer. and a first baseman.

and we need to do it THIS offseason.  going to ST with last year's first basemen is unacceptable.

and going into ST this year with no proven and credible power bats is also unacceptable.

I'm on the Dunn bandwagon, unless we can swing a trade for Fielder or Gonzalez.

At least the Yankees can't steal Strasburg from us

This implies that they already stole something of ours. I don't recall Teixeira belong to the Nats.

I was asking if you were being sarcastic.

It was actually hard to tell upon re-reading. I was serious. I'm pissed at Tex and Boras for being shady.

You really want them to get Dunn and Hudson? To me that makes no sense. We shouldn't spend money just for the sake of doing so.

the only reason im pissed is the WAY the yankees did this

As baseball fans everyone should be ripped about this.

The sick part is, last week when the Nats rumors moved forward, I was hoping noone would come in on the last day and snatch him. It's like getting shafted on EBay auction.

Their first pick is in round 4, since they didn't offer arby to anyone.

I'm not on the Hudson badnwagon. But I'd like to see them get Dunn. Your opinion on Dunn is well documented so I put no stock in it.

I'll also remember what all of these Dunn worshippers are saying now when he strikes out 200 times and makes Dmitri Young look like a gold glove first baseman.

Does anyone have any fun reaction from OH?

i think we've agreed on a lot of things in recent months, spidernat.  especially on this subject.

It's bullcrap to say that the Lerners tried and are off the hook for trying if they don't spend money to improve the team through alternative routes.

Yea, the Yankees have now spent what, 300 million dollars?

170 (Tex) + 140 (CC) + 80 (Burnett) = ? I suck at math

I don't think anyone is looking for Dunn to play here 4-5 years. I would only like to see him here for 2 years max.

Maybe he'll produce emails to show how much they tried.  :?
