well I'm pretty sure the whole "Nationals have to pay more because they suck" thing is not a surprise to anyone except the clueless media.

we already KNOW the Nats need to pay more. it's common sense. crappy team = have to use more money to convince a player to come here, because crappy team is not attractive to FAs. but lots of money makes crappy team look less crappy.

Do you guys think the hold up is that no one is matching the Nats offer as of yet? I'm sure Boras wants him to go to the Red Sox, but if the money is not there...what happens?

It's the wording that rubs some people the wrong way. If they just said it the way you did, I think that actually might go over better. Does that even make sense.

Wow we have 100 pages coming soon. Who said there aren't any nats fans. Granted OH had part 4 and 5 of the teix watch thread, they outnumber us big time and have a lot more turds (and cough cough insiders haha).

I love how this thread started by my brother in november with a rumor that'd we be interested in teix and it may take anywhere from 8yr/$160 mil - 10yr/$200 mil. I have spent time in five different states since this thread has started!

Looking back, we had some fun times in this thread talking about plan b, music, currency, ex-girlfriends, professional wrestling, hammondsnats finally backing off the lerners for a bit, tattoos, AZ's love for Dukes (it's not a thread w/out that right), sportsfan actually showing optimism, how much we all hate espn, mass board suicide if we got willy taveras, our favorite sports and why, plenty of feuds, strikeout vs. double play ... and best of all, three attempts by yours truly trying to organize a "let's celebrate mark teixeira signing" party @ a dc bar.

rob neyer of espn.com says adam dunn isn't deserving of a raise and an mlb.com says the nats could be interested in ben sheets (i'm cool w/ that) but are focused on teix sweepstakes right now.

Sheets is far too expensive for a player as hurt as he always is. I wonder what kind of deal he is going to get anyways.

He made 12.25 mil last year. With all his health issues, he won't get that. I wouldn't have a big problem with a 3 year 21 mil deal with incentives for staying healthy. He's nasty if he can stay healthy. I think someone will give him more than that though. We've got to lead the league in "if they stay healthy" guys.

That's why we don't need to acquire any more of them.
