however, OH folks are talking that the Orioles ARE going to jump to 10/200.

OH is at a fever pitch right now, they are pretty damn confident that it's a done deal and that they are going to get him.

Their "insider" said it was a sure thing. My brother told me the dude is rarely wrong. We'll see, I guess. I still don't believe, but I never got to the point of thinking "We're going to get him!" anyways.

if that is the case, then tomorrow we offer Dunn, and we offer Hudson.

if Tex signs elsewhere, then we post up with a "Open for Business" sign.

I won't be overly upset if we don't land Tex, as long as the good faith effort was put in, and we still address our problems another way.

I'm with you ronny. I've never fully jumped on the "we're getting Tex" wagon. It would be huge for us, but I still think the Sox jump in and steal him at the wire.

once Tex is off the Market, the Nats need to move fast on anyone else they are targetting.

No "insider" has any more information than any other "insider" ... Only Tex and Boras knows ... that's it ... that's the list

Is anybody going to sleep tonight?

I think I'd be the happiest Nats fan if we got Manny.  I know it doesn't make sense but I like the guy.  I'm beyond caring if we optimally/economically improve our team. Just get anyone to entertain me

If we don't get Tex, I would love to see us try to work a trade for Adrian Gonzalez. He would make me easily forget about Tex.

The O's have hardly been mentioned except in passing in these rumors. I tend to think while we exaggerate our chances here, the O's boards have flipped the wig.

I believe so too. The Sox and Nats are the main players in this equation. These O's fans are way more delusional than us.

Quote
Orioles wade deeper in Teixeira talks

The Orioles have made an offer to free agent Mark Teixeira and have survived a back-and-forth process with agent Scott Boras as to the slugger's final asking price. Andy MacPhail, Baltimore's president of baseball operations, said Wednesday that the Orioles appear to be one of four final teams in the bidding -- along with the Angels, Red Sox and Nationals.

Baltimore's offer reportedly stretches over seven seasons and $150 million, figures that weren't immediately available for confirmation. Boras, who met with the national media on Wednesday, said that Teixeira will be considering a wide range of factors that include but aren't limited to geography, dollar signs and a team's proximity to contention.

The Orioles have always been considered a factor due to the fact that Teixeira grew up in Baltimore suburb Severna Park and rooted for the team as a child. MacPhail noted that it all depends on what Teixeira wants and made a fairly simple conclusion.

"A lot of it is going to depend on what's most important to the player," he said. "If winning tomorrow is the most important thing to the player, we're handicapped."

-- Spencer Fordin

the words "final asking price" stick out to me.  makes me think that this will happen sooner than later.

QFT. I looked on OH and couldn't believe some of those posts. They are delusional. I don't think this thing is even close to being done yet. It amazes me that they still have so much faith in Angelos. I mean he's basically ruined their franchise.

Aren't they starting to move out of Vegas tomorrow after the Rule 5?

well supposedly the OH "insiders" seem to have a very good track record. good enough that basically what they say is considered gospel.

I heard a vague something about 6/120 but I wouldn't take that and run with it as Boston's official offer.
