Googled "ROFL Smiley", second one listed.  You can right click to find the exact address.

But I bet Annie prefers this one:

As funny as all that is as it pertains to me, I can't help but feel freaked up that some stupid nag's gossip and dumb suspicion has made a mockery out of Annie Savoy. I think it's unfair to her and she never did anything to deserve that.

If I thought it bothered her I'd quit immediately, but I think she has a great sense of humor about it.

There are so many jokes I could make right now, but as the proprietor of this fine establishment, I must refrain in the name of diplomacy :(

Maybe i should create an alter-ego.  I hear that's what all the cool kids are doing.

I mean it seems to really bother you that people joke about the Annie Savoy thing.  Nobody that still posts here really believes that she is you, we just think it's funny to joke about.  But it really seems to get under your skin whenever people mention it, and I wondered why, that's all.  I concede I could just be misreading your degree of annoyance.

According to The Boston Globe, citing a Major League source, Nationals general manager Jim Bowden has called numerous teams to ask about the availability of their best hitters. MLB.com has reported about the mutual interest between Mark Teixeira and Washington for the switch-hitting first baseman to return to nearby where he grew up. But the Nats are just one among a very long list of teams shopping for Teixeira, so acquiring a hitter via trade may be a more suitable option.

As a team, Washington hit just .251 last year while being 15th in the National League in home runs (117) and RBIs (608).

The team has also been linked to free agent Adam Dunn, though the Nationals seem to be set at the corner outfield positions, with Elijah Dukes, newly acquired Josh Willingham, Lastings Milledge, Willy Mo Pena and Austin Kearns. Center field, first base and second base sure could use an upgrade, though.

So is the desire for Dunn cooling off?

I think it depends on just how much Dunn is willing to play 1B. if he made any type of hints towards wanting to play Outfield specifically, the Nats will undoubtedly say "no way". if he thinks someone will let him play LF for their team, he won't sign with us, because we won't do so. if he signs here, he HAS to play 1B, imo.

we're set in the outfield. probably Milledge -Dukes-Willingham is what we'll go with, from LF to RF.

I don't see why 1B is a downgrade. Sure you get a lot more balls hit your way, but you get to stand on the bag and yap a lot too.

Just out of curiosity, how many games has Dunn played in the outfield and how many games has he played at first?

for his career:

950 in LF
127 at 1B

he's an outfielder who we hope would be willing to move to 1B. he's not a OF/1B utility at all.

"I don't think it will be with the Angels. If he were going to re-sign in Anaheim, I think it already would have happened. Just a gut feeling. Even the people I talk to in the organization don't seem optimistic. Teixeira would be ridiculed if he signed with perpetual losers such as the Baltimore Orioles or Washington Nationals, so my guess is he'll sign with the Boston Red Sox."

freaking douchebag.  While I won't pretend we haven't sucked, I think it's pretty presumptuous to call us "perpetual" losers put us in the same category as the Orioles who haven't had a winning season in over a decade :?

Everyone links the Nationals with the Expos.  That's why.  No one is intelligent or original enough to realize that this is a totally different team from the one that moved to D.C.

Is that guy from the Orange County register in the third grade? When was the last time a professional athlete worried about being ridiculed for signing anywhere? And what adult ridicules someone for signing a guaranteed contract in the neighborhood of a quarter of a billion dollars? Players sign deals with perpetual losers all the time when the money is big.

The Tejada comparison isn't entirely accurate.  Javy Lopez and Rafael Palmeiro signed with the Orioles at that same time, so while he was going to a perpetual loser, he was part of an influx of hitting talent.  I guess you could the say the same could be true for Tex, though, with Willingham coming here.

The Gil Meche comparison is more apt.
