Rico Carty.  One of the first Dominican stars and I believe the first one from San Pedro de Macoris. I’m current reading The Eastern Stats. Recommend it.

Since I posted about one Big Five basketball legend who passed away have to mention another.  Ernie Beck who played for Penn and several NBA teams. Lived a long life.

I was very surprised he was that age. I admit I find it harder to guess at a black man’s age than I do a white man’s, probably because I’m the latter, but I never would have guessed he was 78 regardless of that issue.
