If he'd have had 600 AB's he would have projected to 46 hrs, fwiw.

Nationals.com posted an article today on Jesus and he said that he will strive to up his BA and OBP this year and strike out less.

And I strive to win the lottery tomorrow night so that I can join Baseball is Life's ticket group.  :D

Dunn is proven talent? I would have rather paid Hinske $1.5 Million for 1 year than $36 Million dollars for Dunn over 3 years. Both are similar in several ways except Hinske is far cheaper.

The Dodgers have revised their offer to Manny downward to 1/25.  Let's break the logjam and get the free agent signings going.

Not sure where I read it, but some sports writer was predicting all this free agent waiting might extend into Spring Training.

Poor Dunn.  He keeps reaching out to the Dodgers hoping they'll bring him aboard and they keep brushing him aside for Manny.

Manny has 48 hours to sign, or the Dodgers will revoke the offer.
He'd be a complete moron if he didn't take 25 million for 1 year.

I hope the Lerners are taking notes.  Unless they like being used as a negotiating chip.  :spaz:

Ramirez is a great talent but he's a moron for what he pulled in Boston and I'm glad he's getting freaked over it.

And he just rejected the latest offer from the Dodgers. Wonder if they'll be moving on to their Plan B now?

The New York Mets, San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals are among the teams known to be monitoring Ramirez's situation but don't appear inclined to pay him more than $20 million a season.

Failure to re-sign Ramirez could result in the pursuit of Bobby Abreu or Adam Dunn, who remain available.

yep, was coming to post that here.

apparently some reporter has arbitrarily thrown our names back into the Manny mix.

but realistically, the Dodgers are the only ones with a serious interest.  the Nats and Giants are observing and monitoring, but only really have a passing interest.

yep, and I gotta say, that is the only reason he didn't get the contract he wanted. because of his Boston shenanigans.

if the Dodgers move on to Dunn, Manny doesn't have many other options.

he can take less money from the Giants or the Nats(cause neither of them are going to pay him 25M a season), or he can sit out a season.

or he can beg the Yankees to give him anything.

I have to believe that we're only monitoring the Manny situation because it directly impacts Dunn. I'd be shocked if Ted threw $20+ mil at Manny.

exactly.

Dunn is the one we want, and what Manny does will affect what Dunn does.

The chickens have come home to roost. Hopefully this will prevent other players from pulling this type of crap again. I wonder if Boras led him to think he would get paid more money if he managed to get out of Boston.

Can the yankees sign him? I thought they were not allowed to sign anyone else this off season.

I'm not aware of any limit teams have in signing free agents other than the possible impact it could have on their luxury tax situation.

Unless the MLB raises the quota, the Yanks can no longer sign anymore Type-A or Type-B FAs.

The chickens have come home to roost. Hopefully this will prevent other players from pulling this type of crap again. I wonder if Boras led him to think he would get paid more money if he managed to get out of Boston.

Boras completely misplayed the Veritek and Manny situations.  How he thought Veritek would get a better contract in free agency than he could get in arbitration from the Sox was baffling considering Veritek's age and his production decline. And once he was designated a Type A free agent he was a baseball leper at that point - untouchable. They can thank the largesse of John Henry for offering what he did.

And now for Manny to turn down a $25 mil offer from the Dodgers with nothing else on the table is truly a mystery. I'll give Boras the benefit of the doubt for not seeing a worldwide economic meltdown coming our way when they were strategizing last summer but it should be apparent to all by now.  $25 mil is still $25 mil, isn't it?
