Jayson Stark says friends of Tom Glavine and John Smoltz indicate they both want another go at it in '09. They're hoping the Braves will offer low-base incentivized deals. If the Braves spurn Glavine, I wonder if he'll sign with the Nationals.
why would they sign here?
I can't imagine any of those things actually happening, but it would be cool.
No it wouldn't. Glavine cannot pitch any more. He's washed up.
*shrug*you never know.
We can't even as much as entertain the idea of signing a dinosaur like Glavine.
Even at league minimum,we couldn't afford his ben-gay bill.
I don't really want to deal with four years of paying Burnett the $12-15 million someone's gonna give him.
This is his worst season so far, but he's still been pretty solid. I'd take him, but probably not for that much.
I've heard people say this is his best season.

Why would anyone come here
Here is a somewhat more interesting thought from Dierkes: the Yankees may be willing to deal Ian Kennedy and/or Phil Hughes for "a young center fielder or first baseman." Can we dump Nick Johnson? Can we sign Taveras and then swing him to NYC?
