anybody that would make a difference will require breaking the bank (and losing draft picks)
I hope that Jim Bowden (should he be GM) should go out and get a crapload of VETERANS who know how to act and lead the team through tough times. We could use a 10 year veteran starting pitcher with a quality reputation. We could use a positive role model for guys like Milledge and Dukes...but also guys like Lannan and Flores. Dmitri is a great guy by all accounts but he cannot do it alone. Why not go after some quality clubhouse guys and replace scrubs like macowiak and estrada and lo duca with real quality personalities
No...we need to stack-up on youth players who will be with us in 4 years and still be in their prime.
Some of these guys' contracts include 2009 options (*).Pitchers - Burnett, Sheets, Garland (if we're desperate), Lackey*, Oliver Perez, Harden*Position Players - Furcal, Hudson, Dunn, Teixeira, Chipper* (), Abreu, Crawford*, Ibanez, Vlad*
Care to hazard a guess on what it would take to sign any of these players?
Where's C.C.?
20 million for Guerrero? He'll be and old 33 next season.
Tex will probably end up an Oriole. He's said for a while now that's where he wants to go.
I've heard fans say that but I don't remember ever hearing it come from Tex or his agents.
First and foremost, Mark Teixeira tried to emphasize that he is focused on his current situation. "I'm a Texas Ranger," he said. But Teixeira, who grew up in Severna Park, also reiterated Friday what he's said before: He would strongly consider playing for the Orioles."Baltimore, in the future, it's a place I'd love to look at," Teixeira said. "I don't want to talk too much about it. I don't want anything to be a distraction to my team. In a year and a half, we can have a lot of fun conversations."..."I root for those guys, and I root for the Orioles -- except when they're playing us," Teixeira said. "My dad, when he's not watching the Rangers games, he's watching the O's games."
