Adrian Alaniz left the game tonight after only 2/3rds of an inning after allowing a hit and striking out one. Not sure what happened.
LEADING OFF Harrisburg's starting pitching, which has struggled this month, failed to survive the first inning against Trenton, as the Senators eventually dropped a 6-4 decision on Tuesday. Adrian Alaniz developed a blister on his throwing hand and was relieved while facing Trenton's fourth batter, Chris Malec. Zack Segovia, who came on in relief, got out of the inning, but allowed the Eastern League North-leading Thunder (78-50) six runs, started by a solo home run from Colin Curtis, in the second inning.
I am enjoying Espinosa's start, but he was thrown out at second trying to steal and picked off at first in the same game (tonight). For being such a "smart" baserunner, it would seem he has some work to do still. This is not to say that some experience will solve the problem, I am fully confident that Espinosa is the type of player that learns from his mistakes (from what I have read, at least).
The pickoff and caught stealing were on the same play. He got picked off 1B and then tagged out heading to 2B, thus the CS.
They really do intend on bringing up JZ in September it appears. They limited him to 4 innings in his start tonight for Harrisburg: 4 IP 3 H 1 R 1 ER 3 BB 4 K. Each of his last 4 starts has been cut short.
Espinosa is sickkkkkkkkkk. He's 9/11 with 4 walks to 0 Ks so far with Vermont. I bet he is offended that they put him in Short Season Low A Ball. Promote him to HTown or Potomac!
Speigner continues to flourish for Columbus as he throws 2 more scoreless innings in relief tonight.Over his last 11 appearances: 22 IP 15 H 0 R 0 ER 4 BB 18 K (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.86 WHIP).What else does it take for the dude to get the call?Leonard Davis is heating up a little bit. Over his last 9 games: 11/27 (.407 AVG), 4 Doubles, 1 Triple, 1 HR, 10 RBIs.
Anyone hear how O'Connor's surgery went today?
