I agree on both accounts.  Dean kid seems like an interesting prospect who will pop up on some radar screens.  Speigner should never see time in the big leagues ever again.

Yikes! atleast McGreary is kicking ass, but McGreary can only pitch for two months during the year. So he's not gonna help-out any time soon.

Nice to see Burgess get off to a good start for Potomac. 1/4 with a Solo HR in his first game and tonight he went 2/4 with a Double, 2 Runs, and 3 RBIs.

Not directed at Kim: Bowden and the FO see something in him. Just because a guy wasn't the greatest as a Rule V (huge pressure situation coming from AA), doesn't mean we should give up on him.

We traded career minor league stud Darnell McDonald for him. Good deal. Speigner was mediocre as a starter but he's been great this year as a reliever. He's got good stuff if I remember correctly. Nice low 90s sinking fastball with a good breaking ball to boot.

I doubt he'll be called up to the bigs this year, he's not on the 40-man roster so there's really no point.

Darnell McDonald is an older version of Destin Hood. A tremendous high school athlete that had a scholarship to play football for a major university (Texas) but never made it as a major leaguer. Let's hope Hood has a better future.

I would've taken Darnell McDonald in our OF over Kearns, WMP, Paul Lo Duca, FLOP.  Now he his hurt.

But going back to Speigner, no he doesn't have what it takes to be up here.  Just say no and let the kids compete.

Alaniz strikes out 6 in 4.2 IP today but he gives up 6 hits and 4 runs (3 earned) in the process to lower his record in AA to 0-5 after going 9-0 in Potomac. His ERA in Harrisburg is 3.97 so it's not like he's been terrible though.

LHP Yunior Novoa struck out 6 in 3.1 scoreless innings of relief. He turns 24 next month so we might get a look at him sometime next year.

Potomac- (2-1, 4 Saves, 1.38 ERA, 0.69 WHIP, .178 AVG Against) 26 IP 16 H 4 R 4 ER 1 HR 2 BB 27 K

Marco Estrada posted another solid outing for the Clippers today: 6 IP 8 H 1 R 1 ER 0 BB 3 K.

Over his last 5 starts he has given up 3 earned runs in 30.1 IP (0.89 ERA).

He's 25 so it's time to see what he's got. I'd rather see him get called up in September as opposed to Clippard.
