Detwiler is starting for Potomac tonight and Zim is DH-ing. I wish they were playing at home. Great game to go see. But it's in Salem. First pitch 7:07.

Jordan Zimmermann's only given up 2 hits and has 7 K's so far to 1 walk. Didn't face more than 3 batter in an inning until the fifth. It'll be real interesting to see how deep into the game he goes.

My goodness:

Jay Z has thrown 7 innings, 3 hits, 1 er (on a solo homer), 2 bb, 9 k.

This kid may get a look this season.  He could be a future #2 guy for us with his stuff.

OMG ... GARRETT GUZMAN BASES LOADED 2 OUTS - 2 STRIKES ... WALK OFF 3-RUN DOUBLE TO THE LEFT CENTER WALL!!!

Nationals AA team sweeps Orioles AA team.  Jay Z doesn't get the loss after pitching a gem.  Garrett Guzman has been on a tear recently (4 hits today).  And great job by the Sens 8-9 hitters Matt Rogelstad and Seth Bynum to draw two out walks on working the counts full as well.

Nice start to the day for the Nats minor league teams/players.  I wonder how much longer Guzman/Zimmermann will be in AA?

Yeah, Guzman has been absolutely sizzling lately.

Over his last 44 ABs: 20/44 (.455 AVG), 3 Doubles, 1 Triple, 2 HRs, 15 RBIs, 4 BBs, 4 Ks,

He was awful in Columbus earlier this season but he seems to be hitting well in AA much like he did last year in the same league (Eastern League). It'll be interesting if he can ever translate his AA success to the higher levels.

Speaking of minor leagues and the orioles, as of now MASN has shown 5 games involving orioles' minor league affiliates to the Nationals' 4.

Great game today for J Zimm, against Bowie no less.  The Orioles slobber monkey, Wieters, went 1 for 3 against Zimmerman getting a single in the 5th inning.  The guy that Zimmerman let the HR up to, Montanez, is a former third overall pick of the Cubs AND has been in the minors for 8 years, so it is at least acceptable that he let the solo shot off to him.  This game makes the third straight game Zimmerman has lasted 7 innings and he has let a total of 3 runs up in those 3 games (also 19 strikeouts and 5 walks), not too shabby.  Zimmerman would get a call up to the big leagues in September, IMO, if it were not for Mock and Clippard, but I still think he has an outside chance of being in the Red and White come fall.

I am going to be heading out to one of those, Belly Busters are sweet especially if you get there while there is still food.

McGeary earned a brief mention in the BA blog today:
Quote
GCL Nationals lefthander Jack McGeary continues to show signs of improvement in the GCL. Looking to build off his best start of the year (5IP, 4H, 2ER, 5K, 0 BB) on July 8th, McGeary threw six innings, allowing just two runs. McGeary, who received a record $1.8 million bonus in the sixth round of the 2007 draft, struck out five in the game while giving up six hits.

I wish that game was at home, I would have gone in a heartbeat.  Awesome front page.

Another thing I just noticed from the lines last night.  Three of our reliever pitching prospects pitched very well last night.  Zinicola went 2.0 scoreless innings, no hits, no walks, three strikeouts.  Carr pitched one inning, not hits, no walks, two strikeouts.  Beno pitched 2.0 scoreless innings, no hits, no walks, two strikeouts.  I am seeing a trend, hopefully it continues and if it does we are looking at some reliable guys one day in the pen.

Yep. You can listen for free via MILB Radio. Detwiler just gave up a 2-out triple. 1-1 game after 2 innings.

Really, i wouldn't give up on Detwiler just yet. Its his first season against good competition. granted, there is a good chance he wont go anywhere, but there is still time.

OT: New York's version of Debbi Taylor is smoking hot.

EDIT: Her name is Erin Andrews.

That's ESPN's version of Debbie Taylor. Erin Andrews = hotness.

She's all over the Beautiful Women thread.
