Whoa, whoa, whoa. I realize I was only postin' on the other board last year, but I was the one saying out of Spring Training '07 that Redding had the chance to be an anchor for this rotation for years to come. I was accused (and rightly so) of having a man-crush on Tim Redding and a couple of trolls (Binglebop and another guy who somehow copied my nickname) went around claiming that I said Tim Redding was Cy Young material.
Now, while I never stated he was a Cy Young candidate I did say that he had a chance to be something special for us - and this was last year. I thought Redding pitched really well for us after the Break last year and I think this is a continuation of his recovery. He is now two full years removed from surgery which, typically speaking, is the time you see the full recovery. He was the Astros top rated pitching prospect before his injury and at 30 he's still in the upswing stages of a pitcher's typical career. He was constantly over 90 MPH last night and hit 93 a few times. If he continues to build stamina and can locate that curve ball we're talking a solid #2 starter with ace potential.
Go ahead. Call me crazy. Tell me I'm jumping the gun. I want you to.
I've watched this guy since he pitched for the Astros and he's got it. The Saint will help him put it all together.
