The issue with Chavez is that he sucks
Oh, good...a rational argument.

Oh come on, Tech.  As a college hockey fan, you have to respect PA's argument here.  Exactly how many Cornell games have we been to?

I missed that report.

It doesn't matter that I pitch like a dog turd, I closed in the Mexican Leagues. Why is everyone laughing?

What, Hanrahan will be here for 4 more years and I'm a FA to be? I'm gonna sign a $50 million contract with the Nats (please trade me after I get a few saves, I need to increase my value for next year).

If Mets fans considered the Expos/Nats a rival, we'd want to destroy you guys, and I never would have accepted Minty's invitation.  No, I want the Nats to win the division.  I want them to get really good.  I want people to look at the NL East and say, "wow...there just isn't a bad team in that division."  It's more fun that way, n'est ce pas?

4.  There is no honor in defeating an opponent you do not respect.

But that's just my opinion....

Life as a Nats fan until the team is restocked after being stripped clean by MLB ownership.

Those folks hating on other teams should be more amusing than threatening considering our meager MLB lineup.

Ayala is about to come on in the ninth for the mets with a 7-6 lead in a critically important game.

Crazy. With us he was our worst reliever and statistically he was one of the worst in baseball.

YES!!!! That stupid nag Ayala gave up back to back hits with 2 outs to concede the tying run.

On to extras in Philly.

Well, I'd like to tell y'all that I was sitting on my coach last night, saw Ayala come into the came and said to myself, "Aha!  NOW we're cooking with gas!"  Unfortunately, instead, I sighed and said to myself, "Exactly HOW badly hurt is Wagner?"  Two outs, nobody on, down a run, Philly...no sweat, it's the Mets.

It isn't a loss that makes you cry; it isn't a loss that depresses you.  It isn't even a sign of a collapse, as some have suggested.  (I actually view it as an incredible choke job on Philadelphia's part that they aren't up seven games by now!)  All you can do is shrug.  The bottom line is this:  our lineup is pretty good.  Our starting rotation is great, especially when you factor in that Mike Pelfrey has been our best pitcher of late.  Our bullpen, as I have stated elsewhere, couldn't hold a five-run ninth inning lead against the Hawaiian Little League team.  It is our Achille's Heel, and what can you do?

We didn't think Ayala was the savior.  We didn't think he would replace Wagner.  We hoped he might replace Heilman as the pitcher we boo most frequently.  So far, in that particular category, he's been a disappointment.  Now he finally seems to be on track...maybe by this time next year, we'll actually like Heilman again...hey, you never know...

But that's just my opinion...

Ayala has now been annointed the Mets' closer by Manuel.

Rauch has given up 9 runs in his last 7 outings.

Ayala's only given up 1 run in his last 6 outings, 6.1 innings pitched.  He always wanted to close, and the fact he's doing it for the Mets shows how desperate they were, but maybe he'll pitch up to his talent level for them.

He had a couple of stretches that were as good for the Nats. It's just he sandwiched them around some real stinkers.

Doubtful that he continues to pitch this well. But if he does, I'd chalk it up to him getting a fresh start.

He's already blown one save with the Mets. More will likely follow.

That's the plan...it's our attempt to rehabilitate Aaron Heilman.  See, Ayala will blow several critical saves and relief appearances this next month, thereby causing us to lose to the Phillies AGAIN.  Fans will want his blood.  We will want to see him crucified and his spleen used to consecrate Citi Field.  We'll forget all about Heilman's season.  Cunning, in't it?

freak Luis Ayala. I still can't believe this crap. He was literally and statistically one of the worst relievers in all of baseball with us and now he's closing games on a nightly basis in a Division race for the Mets.  I've lost all respect for that punk nag.

Don't worry...he's just setting us up.  We have a three game set with the Marlins at the end of the year.  I'm betting that will end like this:  blown save, blow-out (by the Marlins), blown save, to eliminate us from the playoffs.  Have no fear; Ayala still sucks...Or he's a punk.  Either way, I'm sorry.

Statistically he was having a better year with the Nationals than Billy freaking Bray.
