I think 5 of the pitchers plus Crews,  Young, and Lipscomb are draft choices, plus Nunez was rule 5. They've been less fruitful in amateur signings since Robles
 Garcia is the only one.

Team AVG, OBP, Slug, and OPS all rank 30th in MLB for the month of June.

Could be worse...if there were more than 30 teams in MLB...

The rebuild was a failure. Call it like it is. We're speeding towards 7 games under .500 in what looks like another losing season for the Ron Rivera of baseball.

It’s time to rebuild the rebuild. This team is Woods, Abrams, Gore and a bunch of fodder.

Have to get ownership willing to do that

If it allows them to trade salary and get a lower payroll they will be all in.

Knowing the current cheap ownership, they're probably gonna trade Abrams and Gore in the next few years lol. And then send their puppet Rizzo to do some PR work in the media, while they keep pocketing cash from those sh*tty concerts at Nats Park

Still 30th in June walks, OBP, Slug, and OPS, but up to 29th in AVG.

Just 3 stolen bases for the month, with 4 caught stealings.

Look, 31k for a Marlins game in bad weather due to a concert.  Mini Me must be happy with the profit margins on that, and he only has to pay Nelly for one night, not 8 seasons like Keibert.

Davey is cooked. Today’s postgame presser was telling. There’s a clear disconnect between the players and coaches. Once a manager/coach goes the “we can’t hit for them, pitch for them, field for them” route, you know it’s time to pull the plug.

Team ERA since Jim Hickey Arrived in 2021:

2021: 4.80, ranked 24th
2022: 5.00, 29th
2023: 5.02, 27th
2024: 4.30, 23rd
2025: 4.99, 28th

This is not just about a lack of Lernerbucks.  The Giants are #1 in bullpen ERA spending less than the Nats in that area, the Rays are 9th in overall ERA with the budget of the Lansing Lugnuts.  It's not just cheapness, but a culture where no one has been held accountable for drafting failed Rizzo man crushes year after year, and hiring and RETAINING coaches because they're Davey's personal friends.

Pulling this JCA post from SSS thread
yes. the quality of the play seems better.

The 11 game losing streak is going to be a bit of a mystery sometime in the future. It blew up the season, but it's not clear how it happened, especially the 6 games at the start of the homestand. Other than that, this has been a near .500 team.
Playing competitive baseball in away series at @ LA and then San Diego after crapping the bed at home in a losing streak just sucks.

There has to be a shakeup this offseason. I sort of expect there will be unless there is a weird upturn in second half.

listening to the TV broadcast last night, what struck me is how many hitters are on hot streaks, at least superficially. Garcia, Bell, Lowe, Abrams all had streaks over the past 10-15 games. House came  up at the start of the homestand and he has been OK at the plate and an upgrade in the field. Wood is Wood. How the  heck did they bomb out vs the Marlins and Rockies? Was it mostly bullpen and a few bad starts?

I think Finnegan had one blown save, and Henry and Rutledge slumped. Ferrer might have had a blow up, but not many. Parker slumped, Gore had one bad start, ...

7 of the 11 losses were by 2 runs or less.  They were a lucky 30-33 given run differential, and their luck caught up with them.  They're now playing right at the W-L expectation of a team with a run differential of -70 through 80.

I would have been very optimistic if you told me they finished May at 28-30. This June is as depressing a regular season month as I've seen the Nats have in a long time.

Up there with August 2010 (team started to really suck again and Stras went down with the big injury) and the first month of 2020.

This season is much worse vibes than last couple seasons.

You can't have six straight seasons under a .450 win percentage and expect fans to keep drinking the Kool-Aid.  There were a lot of people here 2-3 years ago who bought into Rizzo's attempts to cover for low spending with his "reboot", "rebuild" BS.  But as time has gone on, fans are seeing what the real issues are.

Everyone had to be aware of that once they saw the opening day lineup.  Its not like the Nats did anything in the offseason to encourage any level of optimism...

2026 will be more of the same...

Completely disagree: Lowe was a huge improvement over Meneses, Crews in RF, Wood from day 1 in LF, no Corbin, DeJong at third. All, on paper at least, appeared to be big improvements from last year.
