Was just watching his SNL "Da Bears" clips last night...
So good! Between that and his one-liners when entering the bar he will live on forever. Cheers to his great characters

That was very sudden. He had announced he would not run again and cited health reasons, but there was certainly no indication this was imminent.

He announced he had it in November. Obviously it was an agressive cancer.

it was manageable enough to run for ranking member against AOC. He didn't turn over the ranking member slot to Lynch until pretty recently

Maybe he was in denial.  I thought it was weird how close to the election it was announced.  Esophagal cancer is agressive and often caught late.

Harrison Ruffin Tyler, grandson of President John Tyler, at 96.

Really somewhat of a monumental moment in American history, even if most people would view his life and death as obscure trivia. As long as he was still alive, it meant three generations effectively spanned almost the entirety of US history. His grandfather was born in 1790 during George Washington's first term as president. His father was born in August 1853 during Franklin Pierce's term (one of several children former President Tyler had with his second wife—he had 15 kids overall with two wives), and then Harrison Tyler was born in 1928.

My brother has a picture of Swit holding my niece when my niece was very young, maybe 9 months old. I forget where the family ran into her, maybe on a road trip to New Hampshire back when they lived in Stoneham.

That's cool, what year was that? MASH was my mom's favorite show so all the actors have a special place in my heart.

I love how she broadened Margaret’s character from a one-dimensional joke into a genuine person that you cared about.
